What a great thread! I enjoyed reading it. Now your (and your dad's) Submariner is prepared for another 22 years!

Best,

I agree with this for sure.

But looks like they did a great job on yours! Thanks for sharing the pics.

Lovely post only wish my dad would let me buy him a sub.
Just think you will always have a little bit of your DAD with you for ever...

That is the way a 20 year old Rolex should look, I love it.

I would be so disappointed if my Dad gave me a watch that has been sitting in a safe for 20 years. I want the watch that was on his wrist throughout the years, that is a true gift. Congrats and good luck.

It's your choice, but if you do want to replace the bezel insert it will be 100$ or less installed.

While others say to leave it original, I would say to send it to RSC and have it come back as new. Just because a watch has a storied history doesn't mean it has to look that way!

your a lucky man...that watch has so much family history...its priceless!
dont fix it up too much or you will erase the history.
I inherited my dads jaguar 32 years ago. I can still see the small dent from when I fell with my bike against the passengers door. I was 6 years old then!!

I missed this thread the first time around, but glad I found it. Love the before and after photos. I also love the history of the watch and how your father WORE it like it was designed to be worn!

Nice watch, I'd keep it looking the same way, lots of family history there. Movement service and new gaskets would be good, probably also a new crown stem assembly, done by an independent rolex-certified shop.

There is a shop that restores old bracelets, I can't recall the name, they are in the far east I think, try googling restore rolex bracelet and their name should come up: the folks at VRF swear by their work on vintage bracelets.

Keep the memories, they are priceless.
