I am actually eyeing the new PAM 359. It's identical to the 312 except for the polished case and the dial, which is quite unique, and the markers and hands have a factory patina. The "broken" 8 and 10 are just such a wonderful touch (albeit necessary).

Hi Steve - Welcome to TRF!
I think it depends on what you have in your current collection. I started off with Rolex and then moved my way into PAMs. The Deep Sea sits a little high on my small wrist, and I have my fingers crossed that they implement a wider braclet on it. Fingers crossed this is announced at Basel next week. The GMTIIC is a beautiful watch and is very versatile. If you are looking for your first Rolex, I would choose the GMTIIC before the Deep Sea. The 312 is a great example of current Panerai inhouse movement incased in a historical 1950 case. I would recommend that you try all three on for at least 5-10 mins on your wrist just to see which one feels the most comfortable. In the end, all three are great examples and I am sure you will be happy with whichever one you choose. Cheers, Eric
