OH brother, you are in sh*t, given the pending cc statement. Just fess up about the trade and tell her you got such a great deal from Paul.....only $1000 for a Pepsi!
You had to put it on the credit card because he only accepted PAYPAL. Just say that if you needed to sell it you would make a big profit. That way it looks like an investment of sorts. Good luck to you.

No lies in my house...if I get a new watch...I get a new watch! End of story. Hey honey, you like my new watch? Oh you don't? Hmmffff..... i don't understand why you are afraid to tell your wife about a watch purchase...its just a frickin watch...not a coming out closet confession... Way too many threads on here about MEN being afraid to tell their wives about their watch habits...

I see many upstanding husbands in this thread saying they'd never lie to their wives about a watch purchase.
That's good! But, how about talking to the wife about the purchase beforehand? Or, do you only tell her after you've emptied the bank account? Me, I discuss and discuss and discuss big purchases...It's part of the pleasure for me to analyze it 100 times before taking the plunge. Not sure why....I have problems!! LOL.... |

Good luck to you and please let us know how it turns out.
I myself, don't lie to my wife but it does not stop me all the time. As stated earlier, It's better to ask for forgivness then permission.

I'm thinking that Law Enforcement Officers should be a bit more careful with there firearms in the house. "Her first husband LAPD discharged his weapon in the bathroom" I wonder what he was doing playing with his "Weapon" in the bathroom ? Simon

Ok Heres the update,
I'll try to make a long story short. I broke down, I told the truth. Well ok I modified it a little bit. The part about help out Paul because he has twins on the way backfired and NOW I'm committed to saving money for Invitro fertilization (sp?) I haven't been on the forum for a while because I've been working in the flower garden, Not my favorite activity either but. None the less a way to spend "quality time" with my dear wife. To answer some questions about why all the fuss, Well we sorta commited to doing this Dave Ramsey plan where you pay off all debt (and don't aquire any more) and Don't use credit cards anymore. I actually had saved up for a while & was $1000 short so I had to use paypal In my confession I also commited to sell one of my toys (a firearm) to completely pay off the Pepsi GMT that I now am able to enjoy with a clear conscious. Now I've learned from the good folks on this Forum there is no such thing as a "stereotypical" Rolex Owner. Please note that with the exception of shooting a few streetlights out I'm not really a bad guy Thanks to everyone for the advice! |

I agree with the post about being HONEST about the watch....however....there are wives....not mine mind.....okay JUST LIKE MINE....who may not understand the 'itch' to have 'another Rolex'......
Not sure how I'll play this one myself when the time comes.....the reason being you just don't find too many SS/black Daytonas in the parking lot....in a box of course...with the receipt...anymore... Keep us posted and congrats on the new love! |

My wife saw my new Pam 305. I told her it's just a $200 watch. I bought it cos it's good value for money. She didnt suspect anything but I always keep the watch under lock and key in case she might give it away to some guest coming over to my place..
