Front line watch,,,,
Hi all, I work in construction and anything I wear really does take a beating. So it got me thinking as to what you guy's wear at work in a job that really does take it out of a watch? Here is a picture of a watch I wear for work, I've had it for 5 years and Monday to Friday it takes a good beating but never fails me. Also a pic of my evening and weekend watch.

For work, it's 90% of the time my Seiko Black Monster, and the other 10% is a Casio G-Shock.
However, I'm starting to get to the point of wearing one of my Omegas to work, becuase as others have pointed out, why buy an expensive watch just to sit in a case ?? |

Although my job isn't exactly overdemanding on a watch (as you well know Darren ), a Seiko Black Monster is a really solid watch. It's certainly my watch of choice for doing anything that could hurt a less robust timepiece

Sounds like a good plan Darren. I fly a desk and computer for 8-11 hours a day so my subs are safe.

In the last 18 years, I only had 1 work watch, back in 1993 I was wearing my nothing special timex. Got in a fight- watch smashed between wall & wrist. Old timer said "don't get another, employer is not going to pay for replacement" took his advice, only wear watches outside of work

Rigsby, I work on site as a Carpenter and wear my ND Sub daily. I protect it during the daytime with a Tennis sweatband covering it, no major dings yet but I will have to accept any that it picks up as part of its history. I get full enjoyment and use of it this way and if it needs a new bezel one day and a polish...so what, I'll be happy to cough up, small price for the enjoyment it gives me!
I'll post some pics later. |

Hi Darren.
I'm in the UK too & in Construction & Waste Mangement (ie: Groundworks/Demolition & Skips/Recycling).... If you search 'post pic's of your office' thread you'll see just why I favour my Seiko Monster for work & keep my GMTIIc for strictly less hazardous (& certainly cleaner!) environments......

It's more how clients (& even some employees/sub-contractors) react to it.
