Thought the GMT 2nd Hour hand was a gimmick, until this week
I admit, I bought a GMTIIC more for the looks than for the function. But for the past 10 days I've been down under in Sydney for work. I left the 2nd hour hand set for Central US time, just like always. I was surprised with how useful this actually was. I could easily adjust the dial to get to Pacific time (my normal time zone) yet I always was on time with Sydney. I'm sure this isn't news to many people, but this feature is pretty cool and very useful

Personally, I'm not familiar with how the GMT works... Am I assuming correctly that the second hour hand travels at half speed and indicates 24 hour time on the bezel?

The GMT hand is a 24 hour indicator. Normally, it is set to the local time zone. As your plane takes off, you move the stem to the second position, the hour hand moves in one hour increments to set the time zone you are going to (without stopping the second hand so the exact time is not lost). The bezel can be utilized to track a third time zone if necessary.
Yes, that is what it designed to do and it very nice for travel.

It's really simple, the 24 hour hand sets independently and can be set to a second timezone easily you can either read this off the dial (multiply by 2) or read this of the bezel if it's at its "home position" (24 at 12). Then you can move the bezel to a certain GMT + or- and read the 24 hour hand off of that as well to have a third timezone.

I love it for work as well as travel, I work with people in many time zones and 24hr hand with the bezel helps so much. I just wish it could account for those zones with the 1/2 difference!
