M serial on June 2010 DateJust purchase

I just bought a brand new DateJust this week at a local AD and it has M serial number.

I looked it up and found out that it's made sometimes in 2007. Should I be worried? Is this normal that you get old stock? What about 5 years service period now that it has been running for a few years?

Usually they give you an additional discount because it is new old stock. Did they give you any?

It's normal......M serials were made up to and including late 08,early 09....
Whilst sitting at your AD it was not running in the display so service is OK

Some models sit for longer than others so "old" stock is still actually new!!

Yes, I got a very good discount; but I could have had that same discount with a recent serial number too.

Is there any new features (inside/outside) between the M version and the latest 2010 version? Do you care if it's M or V serial version?

As I shop around, I notice a lot of DateJust in dealer case have been on displayed for a while - because the protective plastic layer on the case is already dried up and start peeling. You can tell that it's been handled a lot because of the moisture deposit on the edge of the protective plastic.

The one I bought came out of the safe in the back and it was spotless. Not even a finger print on it.

Also from what I understand those serial number charts are just approximations and are most accurate for the faster-selling models.

Yes, I got a decent discount; but only 4% more than the best discount other ADs were willing to give me. I don't think the extra discount has anything to do with a older serial because I was allowed to pick one out of 5 DateJust with different dials/bezels/bracelets.

I told the AD that I was ready to buy and have been to all the ADs in my area and X% was the best I got. I will pull the trigger if they can beat it.

I don't think M serial is too old of stock if it is a less common dial configuration. I bought mine as a z serial in late 08' at nearly 25% off. I'd ask the dealer when they received it in inventory, in my experiences several dealers were open and provided me the exact date.

I wouldnt worry too much about it, its the same watch. It's not going to matter in the long run. Enjoy it my friend.

I seen where an AD received a day date rare dial K serial in 2008 month later than a z serial and the k had the newer hard plastic warranty card and not paper.

It's still a new watch, who cares what letter is in front of the numbers on your warranty card. The serial numbers are all approximate, and I bet AD's are still getting M's occasionally in their shipments.

Solid links, updated clasp engraved rehaut. V might have plastic card vs paper for warranty not sure though.

Thank you gentlemen. I was a little worried to find out I just bought a 3 years old watch. My did come with a plastic (credit card size) warranty card. By the way, I read something about dealer stamp on the warranty card. My only have dealer name printed on the card - is this what you mean by dealer stamp?

Other info are, customer number, model number.

No difference at all other than the serial number.....
The M and V have crossed over in production on many models....Trust me,you have a new watch and depending on how much you wear it,5 years from your purchase minimum,service is needed......
