Pool table

I decided that our so called "sun room" (posh term for a conservatory with a slate roof) is completely underused and my boyhood desire to have a proper games room needs to be satisfied.

My slate bed 7 x 4 table is being built as we speak. The TV is already up on the wall and the poncey conservatory furniture has left the building much to the annoyance of my wife.

The one compromise is that the table also doubles as a a 9 x 5 oak dining table so that the room will look "normal" when I'm not shooting pool. I've got to move 6 oak chairs from situ to the corners of the room and back again and remember to fit the oak cover.

Yeah sure.

Anyone else got a pool table ?

I'm more stoked than waiting for any of my watches.

Nice thread, Paul................some pics would be welcome.

I love pool and snooker, but if I placed a pool table in my house, I'd have to crawl under the table to get in!!

Pictures Paul when it's done.

Should be interesting to see how much use you get out of it.

I've so far bought 3 pool tables for my houses and everytime said to myself: THIS time I will use it.

I got rid of mine when I was informed that the game room was being "re-purposed"... now it's my little one's game room.

I will get some pics going once the room is straight.

No bar. Not allowed.

I was a bit of a useful Snooker player in my youth, league level and all that but I haven't played for decades due to work restraints.

I'm thinking I'll get plenty of use out of it.

The truth be told. They are fun for about 2 months, then you WILL use it for a table!

Sorry, After having 3 houses with game rooms, 2 pool tables, shuffleboard, pinball and air hockey games, the only pictures I can find now are a traveling cue and an old leftover pinball machine.

No bar but I've already counted the steps from the table to the chilled cabinet of the refrigerator.

12 steps there, same back.

There WILL be alcohol.

I have my pool table in the garage for 6 years now. I play regularly.......it's a good stress management. You'll enjoy it more especially when your playing against a good competition.

Don't have a table but I have 18 sticks. I shoot twice a week for competition. Pool is the only hobby that has lasted in my life (been playing 50 years). I collect sticks. I guess if there is more than one of something I have tried to collect it.

Having a pool table should be a lot of fun...When I was in college I used to play the semi-pros and almost beat Minnesota Fats at a game of eight ball.....for charity!!!

Had lunch and golfed with Willie Mosconi quite a few times. Both his brothers were local Realtors in Phila. and belonged to one of my Philly clubs!

Hi Paul,

The dining table/ pool table is a great idea.

I bought a snooker table about ten years ago and had it refurbished. It is a turn of the last century B & W. I don't play as much as I used to but we still have our 'snooker evenings' from time to time.

Here are some pix.

We had a nice 9' Brunswick Gold Crown V pool table, with the return pockets, and all in our basement. Until my parents sold thier house and moved into a condo. Now, no more pool table :(

Paul,
I had a pool table for years, even enlarged the room for it when I built my house. It was big fun. Then we added darts, air hockey, slot machine..... You get the picture! (even more drunken fun)
Unfortunatley after a few years it served well as a laundry folding and staging area.....Now my wife has a formal dining room.....BUT I loved it when I had it
Enjoy it !!!!

Great pics Eddie, lovely table.

I'd dearly love to have the room for a full size snooker table plus a 9x5 american style pool table in the same room, pinball, bar and all but where we are, that sort of size is only available at absolutely crazy priced houses where the "council tax" is over £3,500.00 per year.

The sun room is 15.5"x12.5" and that equates to a modest 7x5 table size.

It's a heavy 'un though, weighing 313lbs.
