Warranty with a different name on the card.
I called NY RSC to see if they would warranty a Sub Date with another name on the warranty and they said that they would not. (I purchased this two weeks ago, pre-owned) I called Dallas, and they said that they warranty the watch, not the person, so that they would honor it. Very interesting.
Subsequently, the watch needs to be regulated- +9 sec. / 24 hours. I called NY again and asked if they would regulate it under a warranty with a different name on the card, and they said that they would. ?????? I spoke to a different person the second time. Yes, I got her name. I'm trying to understand what's going on here. Perhaps they will do a regulation, but not a repair? The bottom line is that I wish Rolex USA will get it's act together. As of now, I will bring the watch to NY for a regulation, and in the unlikely event that it needs a more comprehensive service, send it to Dallas. Has anyone had a similar experience or any input to this situation? |

Tis true, they're interested in the watch not the owner, as long as it's not on the lost / stolen register that is.

Seems weird as I was always told what has already been stated - it's the watch not info not the persons name that really matters!

Myron, I read in other posts that NYC doesn't honor whereas Dallas does honor the warranty period. In any event, as you mentioned, I'd go to Dallas for any major work to be had.
Good Luck! |

In US it's the person (first buyer with the name at the card) that have the warranty. The warranty is not transferable.

According to the Dallas RCS, it is transferable. Only NY won't recognize it. It was suggested by David SW that the reason NY won't is due to the number of questionable or gray market watches sold on 47th street.

If it's magnetized, it can be done in 10 minutes.
I brought 2 to Giovanni at RSC-San Francisco and he did both in 20 minutes without charge for older watches.

Never had a problem here--it was honored as it was within timeframe.
