Rolex Day date or BMW hard top convertible
Hey everyone,
I'm thinking about making a purchase at the end of the year (x-mas present to myself). Should I get a wg DD with meteorite dial, diamond bezel with diamond lugs OR a new Bmw hardtop convertible??????? Thanks as always! |

I'll go with what's bigger...the BMW. Size and price should match!

I'd go for a Platinum DD, preowned, no diamonds.
I had the BMW Convertible, a bit of a bone shaker that dropped £6,500 in the 10 months I could bear it.

how long are you planning on keep it (either the BMW or the DD - which will have a better resale)?

esm - I'm horrible in that I like things a lot and then get bored. I bought a yg dd with diamonds etc and after a year tried to trade it/sell it
I placed an order with my AD for the new sub. The AD works at tourneau in NY (I have a very good experience although others hate tourneau). AD said watch should come in Sept/Oct and I'm first on the list (not sure if hes kissing my a** or if I'm really first on list) |

yeah I understand how having a short attention span can be a pain in the backside.
But as long as you enjoy it, that's all it matters. Looks like your new Sub-C is due soon ;-) |

I would rather have a new car than a new watch. I actually sold a couple of watches when I bought my last car, I would rather have a car paid for than a bunch of watches sitting in my drawer.

You have to change the oil in the B'mer more often than the watch.

I'll take a contrary view. Watch over car anytime. Rolex will retain its value far better than a car, it will always be in style even with gaudy diamonds, and in the end, you can take it anywhere.

Lets see...If you actually live in NYC then why don't you get a certified used BMW (save you mega bucks with out anyone knowing) from Prestige BMW in NJ...Great dealership...They took great care of me when My BMW broke down with only 6500 miles on it..(needed new fuel pump and injectors) You will have plenty left over to buy a nice Rolex. Why not go down to the Diamond Exchange?? You can save quite a bit down there. Honestly if I lived in the city and spent all my time there I would not waste my time with a BMW there. But hey..that is what makes the world go around

I'd go for the BMW among those two choices.

I have to agree, you can bring the watch to a ballroom, party place, meeting etc. but you leave that car outside. You enjoy the watch more and a Rolex retains its value far better than a car.

To be honest I think these types of topics are a bit of a waste of time, however I am totally bored at the mo and this has managed to kill a bit of time. |
