I am thinking of getting a PAM. Obviously from my sig, it would be my first.

I am actually looking for a Daytona or DD but am thinking of taking the plunge for the PAM to further diversify my family.

1. What do you guys think about the PAM 90 as my first PAM?
2. Should I be concerned that it does not use an in-house movement?
3. In getting pre-owned, what should I watch out for (aside from buying the seller)?
4. How often does it need servicing and how much does it usually cost?

I just purchased a PAM 104 which is essentially the non-power reserve version of the PAM 90. Ironically enough, a good friend of mine just purchased a black daytona so we were comparing them side-by-side. As an investment tool, I'm thinkin' the daytona all the way, right? But man, Panerai's are just bad ass watches. The size, the heft, the panache. The Panerai really stands out in the world of 40mm watches. So I would say the PAM 90.

2. Should I be concerned that it does not use an in-house movement?

I can't really speak to the longevity or durability of my PAM 104 yet so ... no comment.

3. In getting pre-owned, what should I watch out for (aside from buying the seller)?

I think there're some great (NIB) deals to be had via TRF sellers. Just go with DAVIDSW or someone with that pedigree.

4. How often does it need servicing and how much does it usually cost?

Again, don't know yet(!)

I had a 90 and sometimes I feel a pang for letting it go. I like the PR on the dial though some say it's a bit busy, but to me it added that little "something".

Have no fear of the 7750 movement used in the reference. It is a proven rugged workhorse capable of incredible accuracy. When I got mine it was a couple seconds slow and my watchmaker got it an honest +1 sec. a day. (I just like em a tad fast rather than slow).

Pam have so much presence and with the ability to spend a fortune on straps

you can change the look to almost a new watch when ever you want.

I believe Pam says around five years or so for service, but how you wear depends.

My preference is for a sandwich dial, but the 90 is still a great choice

i'm using pam 183 black seal, but pam 90 will be my next collection to wear.....
