Anyone have an android based phone?

I just got a Sprint HTC EVO 4G and love it, especially with the new Android Froyo update its super fast!

I can recommend some good apps if anyone wants me to.

I got the HTC Desire and still waiting for the 2.2 update, which our telco says "arriving soon"... :(

I like it and it gives iphone a run for the money.

My father and I are picking up Droid X's later this month. My uncle works at Motorola, so we're supporting his company, and reviews seem mostly positive.

Not yet but I'm thinking of getting one of the ones on Verizon as I've seen some good review. Anyone have experience with one of those?

I have a friend with the original Droid who likes it very much, but the Android firmware on his phone is old. If I recall, he is waiting on the release of "Froyo" 2.2.

The best droids in the US are CDMA only. I need to be able to travel. Would love a droid X otherwise.

I'm not familiar with the term; would you mind explaining it?

The acronyms are better left undefined. At this point they are just generalizations rather than actual standards.

Sprint and Verizon in the US use a type of cellular network called CDMA.

AT&T, T-Mobile, and most of the rest of the universe use GSM, to the extent that you can't use a CDMA phone very much outside the US and Canada.

Phones such as my Blackberry Tour can use both, in just about any country.

My work phone is a LG Ally and I don't find it as intuitive as the iPhone.

My parents are on contract with Verizon (thier contract ends in December, but they can get thier upgrade price now). I'm trying to convince them both to get the Droid X.
I was at the Verizon store the other day and was playing with one. The screen is huge compared to my iPhone 4 screen ! It also downloads web pages somewhat faster as well than my iPhone 4.
Also I noticed, when you grab it with your left hand, THERE IS NO LOSS OF SIGNAL !!! lol

I have the original Android and I love it. I had the Dare before that and the droid is light years ahead of it. I'd be interested in the apps you recommend.

Switched from the iphone to htc evo, only because I hate at&t pricing. the phone and android are still behind in ease of use. it has way more features than iphone

Im thinking of this too. Been leaning hard toward the HTC INcredible, but the X has more battery and memory.

Decisions, decisions....
