Grail achieved!!

Finally got enough 'spare' (relative term) cash together to purchase a SS Daytona with Black Face!!

A few months back I bought my wife a new Lady DJ (key to new watch acquisition as married men know), and had her old piece serviced here in the Middle East.

Anyway, each week when we go shopping I stop by the store and ask for a SS Daytana with black face - no dice, no dice, no dice! Anyway, we went in about 1 month ago, and the Manager says he placed an order with Rolex at the beginning of the year for BHD2.5MM (about 7MM USD) - he says he's not sure what he'll get, but will let me know if he gets a SS Daytona....well, 1 week later while I'm on business in Jordan I get a call...SS Daytonas (only 2, Black or White face)!!!

I went in 2 weeks back and bought it for myself as an early B-Day present - got the watch for BD3,900 (just over 10K USD) and it's a V serial!!

WOW!!!

Really good deals to be had here in Bahrain if anyone is looking for a new piece from an AD I'm happy to PM the contact details.

PIX to follow soon!

Congrats on the new watch Brett!
I love reading the stories when people really have been on the lookout for a new watch..and dropping by the AD several times, and then getting it in the end! Well done and hope you will enjoy it!

Hi Brett,
was that the dealer in Moda Mall or City Mall? I was in the same position in Bahrain 8 months ago. I kept on at both dealers and finally after 4 months the one in Moda Mall got one in. He wanted 4400 BD which at the time with exchange rates and credit card charges would work out at £7,800. They retail in the UK for £6,350. They would not budge on price and I would have to pay tax getting it into the UK. In the end I managed to get one at home from Nairn 1980. Both dealers are very pleasant to deal with but offered nothing in discount.

Anyone watch shopping should look up tik-tok-trev as well, he has THE most amazing hookups for watches. I'm pretty sure any WIS in Bahrain would know him... Mates if mine have sourced rolex, vacherons and panerais off him for bargains and he's been out there for years ;)
