Do you like the Rehaut engraving?

To those who've had, or have both types of rehaut, do you prefer it or not?

I don't own a watch with it, and without spending time looking at one, it seems it might be distracting. Or, maybe not so much???

Just curious what you all think about it.

The reflection made it a little hard to see the crown etching, but it makes it easy to see the SN

I like it. It's subtle enough. I really don't like the RING LOCK SYSTEM and the other text around the DSSD, that's too much in your face for me.

I definitely like it. A lot. No one is going to see it, even sitting next to you, but it is a touch that can be appreciated by the owner or a close up admirer.

Indeed, I agree. I think that is best left on the casback. No offense anyone.

OK really n00b question here. I don't speak French Rehaut looks like a French word to me (maybe I'm wrong).

Can someone phonetically spell it? I am sure there are some silent letters in there and I don't want to pronounce it incorrectly.

I agree. It's pretty tough to notice unless you look for it at just the right angles. It's just another detail that sets Rolexes apart, and it's very convenient for finding the serial number.

Like?.....no. Love?...... yes! I also really dislike the Ring Lock System on the DSSD, it looks ridiculous! For the love of me I can't understand why they put that on the DSSD!

Does it have anything to do with the thickness of the crystal? Maybe there would be some unsightly distortion around the edge or something, and the silver ring is a compromise. Just a thought. It's not my favorite feature either, and it looks very un-Rolex to me.

I feel like the engraved rehaut disrupts an otherwise "clean" design on a lot of models. Supposedly it was introduced as an anti-counterfeiting mechanism, but just like the equivalent on CD/DVDs it ends up being a nuisance to the actual paying consumer. The ones who copy still do it...

(I just got my first Rolex - a polar Explorer II - last week and made sure to get one manufactured before the rehaut was introduced, though getting a case with lug holes was also a factor)

I recall when it came out... a majority of the forum were totally AGAINST it!

Now the majority like it.

I wanted to have it on my DJ - I turned down a much cheaper one because it didn't have the rehaut actually.

I'm glad I went with it but truthfully, it's not that noticeable unless your looking for it! The rehaut is so shiny that unless the light hits it just right it really doesn't pop out at all.

Just my two pennies!

Rehaut is french, indeed.

It means "elevation", exactly the metal piece between the dial and the glass/bezel.

Spelling is not easy: Röo, r like r, "ö" like the u in "turn", o like o.

And BTW I like it.

Regrads
