I love it! If I had several Rollies I would be very tempted to do the same. I agree that a red second hand would look very cool. Whether it still looks like a Rolex doesn't matter. You have an AWESOME looking watch that has a proven 3135 movement. Bravo!

just came home from dinner, when walking through the door i banged my watch on the door hard. it hit the lug/bezel area, and nothing. this coating is strong to say the least.

Seriously........I have 2 other SeaDwellers besides my 1 PVD version, and six other Rolexes to boot. Honestly, if I only had the money to own 1 Rolex, it wouldn't be PVD'd. However, I had a little 'play' money and wanted something that was different than what most had. I couldn't be happier.

the watch was stripped down to its bare mid case. the gaurds where then studied and then cut off. you cannot grind them off as that would just cause too much heat from the friction and cause the steel to turn colors from the heat of the grinding. after they were cut off, they stated that everything from there was done by hand to bring the case perfectly smooth and bring the shape back into the crown area to look natural. it had to be done by hand to re shape it verry slow, because once you get just a touch of the wrong shape in the crown gaurd area, it will not look right and the case will be ruined. the only people who can replace the case is rolex at that point. this is what i was told which is why there is such a high cost involved, because of the time it takes and risks involved. there is no fast massed produced way to repeat this on their other watches. it is all by hand.

its hard to say.

from a collectors stand point, its trashed i guess you could say.

but from a custom sought after market, it could go for a slight premium.
pvd rolex's are not cheap if you check out ebay or any other custom site like bramford or project x and or pro-hunter... theirs are thousands above retail.

i guess it just depends how bad someone out there is looking for one. i can say many actors and big named people own pvd rolex's like bill clinton or jen aniston and many others.

well obviously it worked for the vintage 6538 sub and the 5508 and the 6536..
also rolex still currently has no crown gaurds on all DJ DD and milgauss watches among others.

works for those models, why not mine>?

They didn't have them because they had not invented the crown guard yet!

and what about the rolex's that still have no gaurds as stated... daydate, datejust milgauss among others... obviously it still works great and rolex still uses the no crown gaurd cases till this day, so im not following you.
