YUP! Thats what I'm doing....I love to wear my watch 24/7 doing everything, beach, work, etc. I just couldn't do it with the vintage piece.....Looks like the LV will fit the bill nicely.

I feel the same, I would love to like vintage, but somehow I cannot make me buy one??? for the money a nice vintage piece cost you can buy the new model and I do not know if I want to put my money in a +30 year old watch. Somehow it is not the same if it has not been yours all along, I bought my brand new SubC and I hope to have it all my life and I would love to own it in 30 years and then have a vintage watch :-)

I know that a 5513 is going to do everything a modern sapphire crystal Rolex can do as a day to day watch.

The character in a vintage watch is something that cannot be found in a modern watch.

However, I understand that ones tastes and preferences do change and will continue to change. I fondly admire the LV and if that is your wish I understand.

On the other hand if in 6 months or 1 year or so you fall in love with a vintage model I will not be surprised.........

In my experience at least ones tastes and preference are dynamic and continue to evolve they are not static or fixed but flow with ones experiences.

Well put Stevo! That is exactly what happened to me. I started this thread and since starting it I realized that vintage IS for me! I fell in love with my 5513 and now that I have recovered it again from the depths of Steve Mulholland's wholesaler I will NEVER let it go again. I was just plain stupid. I was thinking the LV would solve all my problems concerning durability, but I was wrong. I never went through with the transaction and since am happier for it. I did find that putting a modern 93150 on it did help, the old FL 9315 was just too flimsy for me and I was afraid with the ELs it had and the links that I would loose the watch. For me the bracelet replacement did the trick.....Here it is just sent off in the mail from Steve Mulholland and I couldn't be happier with the change, new Superdome and faded fat font insert..A real beauty....!

The only decision that makes any sense!

Owning an expensive watch is a luxury, not a necessity. Why would anyone keep an expensive luxury that they don't really want?

GO FOR IT STEVE. The 16610 is a great watch. And it wears really well.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT WILLIS??!!!!????

You made the right choice. If you are unhappy with your watch as a daily wearer, it just means you are unhappy daily when you look down at your watch. I think you are doing the right thing.

Me personally, I would buy a cheaper watch, say a G-Shock or Seiko diver (that I think are awesome) and save money to buy the LV. Meanwhile, you give the 5513 a stroll on the weekends to the local "barra" for some vino, manchego, aceitunas, pulpo y anguila.
