Good morning,

I need to pick up a floor jack this morning for automotive work. I have 2 BMW's and a Van that I'll be using it with, one of the BMW's (M5) is pretty low to the ground.

Any recommendations? Models or specific brands to go with or to avoid? I'm thinking around $100 should get me something solid.

We have autozone, sears, oreilley's etc around here.

Had a 2 ton from sears, worked great I would just make sure the handle locks firmly into place and the pad that lifts will work in the spot you are lifting, besides jack stands a good set of wheel chocks are an added safety measure

Try Walmart's 5 ton. floorjack,it's very close to the ground.

Craftsman jacks seem to be pretty good for the money.

Yeah, $50 for a 2 1/4 ton with jack stands from Sears, sounds like a winner!

Cost of repairs will triple what you invest on them,and they leak a lot!!

I bought one of the aluminum ones. Little more than 50.00 bucks. Don't skimp on the jack. You don't need the best, but don't buy the cheapie either. Like Figbo said, they leak down.

MAC Tools makes a really nice, low profile model, but it ain't cheap. I am sure Snapon would have a nice one as well. You can't go wrong with a Snapon or MAC, IMHO.

stylintrucks website has a low profile 2 speed jack for 150ish, ive had mine for a couple years and its a good product. the 2 speed is nice when you switch over to a high vehicle as well.

Michelin 3 1/2 ton. I've used one for 7-8 years and it works well. 22" lift, speedy lift, heavy construction. I substituted a larger diameter lifting pad:

I use a Stinger, they are available at Sears, but you may have to order one. From my experience I would stick with this brand. For a while they had a combo pack that came with two jack stands. It is not a 'low profile' jack, but it fits under a VW Jetta that sits pretty low.

mac or snap on are great craftsman is as well and im pretty sure all have lifetime warranties you cant beat craftsmans replacement warranty on their tools!

Very good Jack for money. Saves a lot of pumping! Snap on and Mac are best, but will cost $$$!

Regardless of the one you decide on, ALWAYS use jack stands, just in case.
