PMSL......
How naive to EXPECT a drink.... And a seat too? Who wipes your bum for you? These people are in bussiness to make a living, not here to pamper every Tom & Dick who walks in off the street. I could understand anyone being jerked off if sales staff have been rude or discourtious but then just go elsewhere...... I just don't get what folk get so upset about....... Anyway, I can highly recommend the AD in Grimsby, Nth Lincolnshire, one of the oldest established dealers in the country, where you would be made to feel most welcome, be treated with the utmost respect no matter who you are or appear to be. |

i dont think anyone was really "expecting" a drink... but to be fair, it is always more comfortable sitting down when trying on a watch. |

On a different note I have since become friends with guys in my local AD as I was unfortunate to be in there buying a watch for the wife when it was raided by armed robbers. We all got pepper sprayed and told to lie on the floor. not a pleasant experience. After the police interviews etc, the watch sales finally took place 3 hours after I walked in the shop. I had to go home and pretend to my wife that nothing unusual had happened.

This doesn't surprise me at all. Folks get big heads when they deal with nice items and affluent customers. It comes with the territory, you'll have to get used to it or learn how to cope with these types of things.
I usually have zero expectations when walking in, I don't expect to be treated well or poorly- they don't owe me anything (trust me they don't) and I owe nothing to them... It's a level playing field, so don't feel like a victim |

I had a very similar experience when i called in to look at the DSSD in Goldsmiths in Meadowhall about 3 or 4 months ago, as i was dressed in Jeans and casual shirt.
The sales person looked at me...as if...well i had a look under my shoe, just to make sure I had'nt stepped in anything. In the end i made a comment about my attire and walked out and put a post on here. The response was the same, but The GMT Master actually sorted me out with my DEEPSEA and I have to say it was an absolute pleasure dealing with Chris and would not hesitate in highly recomending him to all here in the UK. Will probably buy another Rolex before my time is up, but am so loving the Deepsea, it's going to be hard to wear a small watch again, I gave my 'old' GMT2 to my son but even his jaw dropped when he saw and tried on the Beast....to the extent he asked..well told me...to let him fill in the warranty papers...haha Regards Billy |

I would whole heartily recommend mappin and Webb in Guildford 100% customer service.
Nothing is a problem they are always willing to help. Would also recommend eatons in Derbyshire (Sophie) who was and is very keen to help . Both dealers have a dssd in stock aswell... |

I've actually had excellent service at David M Robinson in Canary Wharf. Purchased 1 Tag and 3 Rolexes there. Been offered seating, coffee, extended warranty and always great personal service, even a call back to my cell a week after purchase to see if I was happy with the watch. Also been invited to different events with them.

I think it's off if the sale staff are actually rude but I also think it's ridiculas to expect a coffee, pampering etc.. over a potential sale. Perphaps if you purchase a watch and are waiting for it to be sized a coffee and quiet would be nice but certaintly not before. It would be nice to see a post complaining about an AD that actually contained a real grevence instead of another post where a member is not happy about not having his ego massaged enough which is basically what it comes down to. |

I really do think it comes down to dealing with one regular contact as you have shopped there previously. As you have shopped there before, I'm sure you would have known that they do not discount sport models. It really is well worth getting a Signet card for 10% off. I'm sure that if you telephone the manager and explain how disappointed you were when you last visited, he would rectify the situation immediately. Now don't get me wrong, I don't think you need to have shopped somewhere before to get a good lever of service. I'd imagine that most high street AD's have at least 10+ people walk in every day to try watches without any intention of purchasing. Its a shame that you may not get the same level of service when you walk in from the street but if you were to call the store, even 20 minutes before arriving, I'd imagine it would probably give you the experience and level of service you were hoping for.. |

Deep Seas are going for the same price as the new SS Sub-c.
You should be able to pick one up for at LEAST £1000 off without even trying. I suggest looking right here on TRF.
It's good you published the name of these clowns. I made a vow a while back: Any AD that treats me like a turd, I'm gonna find a way to drop THEM in the toilet, one way or the other. |

Well, let's put it this way: Most people don't spend 10% of £5880 for a watch.

The contemptuous attitude you voiced in your post is exactly what is wrong with this world today. But I noticed YOU have found yourself a dealer who does treat the customer like something better than s#!t on their shoe. Maybe you just don't think anyone besides you deserves to 'be treated with the utmost respect'? |

I was ready to pull the trigger and buy one incidentally. I'd thought about phoning a couple of times, and then found myself by chance only a couple of minutes away so I thought I'd just pop in. And lets not forget, these aren't necessity items otherwise we'd all be wearing casio's. The AD's need to try very hard, if they leave a bad taste in your mouth why would you buy from them? Buying a Rolex should be a happy experience |

I don't recall anyone saying that they expected a drink but it's always nice to be made to feel 'valued'. & regarding your personal hygeine question, I generally have one of my staff do it. Don't you??

I am sure you would have been more than aware of the status of the stores policy on discounts, if you want a good deal then buy grey, perhaps ask the grey dealer to mail you a packet of nescafe along with the watch. I agree it is nice to be made to feel special when purchasing any luxury item especially a new Rolex and it seems some dealers are certaintly better at this than others I do not think however that being made to wait a few minutes and not being offered coffee constitutes a bad AD. |

Not a good experience with the AD especially as you are a repeat customer
But I think you answered your own question with the last part |

Sorry to hear about your negative experience
Buying from an AD can be a pleasure when you are treated right - on a personal level and with price. Looks like they just lost a good customer. You already know where to buy from now

Like i said "just go elsewhere" Nowhere in my post do i say i would accept a shite service, I only accept the best and the best I get.... You'll find on another post I made earlier in the year where I stated the AD remembered me by name after 3 years between purchases... Everyone to their own I guess.... But my point was and still is, if you're not happy with the service, just go somewhere else... Sooo easy. Last edited by kel; 8 September 2010 at 08:05 PM..
