Submariner LV with black bezel...legal?

Does RSC sells original black bezel to Submariner LV owners? Can they do the bezel swapping for us? I believe Submariner full black coating consider as breaching the warranty so does Sub lv with black bezel falls into the same category?

Apparently some do, some don't. One told me they would do it, no problem. Another told me it is not correct for the watch, and they would not install incorrect parts on a watch.

Well Rolex USA I would doubt if they would change it from the original green. But there is nothing illegal if you can buy a black insert and change it yourself. Then if you send watch for service just change back to the original green insert.Myself believe once you have bought your watch its yours to do with what you like. And as long as you use Rolex parts and said parts don't interfere with the function or serviceability of the watch.Who are Rolex to dictate what you can do to your own bought and paid for watch.

Absolutely! Their "protection" of their image is ridiculous.

Of course it is illegal! This is an infringement of design copyright, and if spotted of the wrongdoing, you could be sued, fined and jailed, and your defaced LV will be confiscated, crushed and burnt Having said that, I think there's no harm trying the modification at your own risks!

By the way, well said Padi56

Agree with Padi 1000%. Besides there are people out there who much prefer the black insert over the original green. So no, it is not illegal to change the insert on a watch you paid for, imo.

I too, agree with padi. I bought it, I own it, I can do whatever I please with it. I can't imagine how it could be illegal; I thought the OP was joking. I can however understand how an AD could believe that its improper, and he could not want to do something that he feels is improper. Some Rolls Royce dealers might refuse to paint flames and racing stripes, or install straight pipes on a RR car. Others might say no problem, just pay me and I'll do whatever you want.

funny you should mention "infringement of design copyright" - on Friday i asked RSC London if they could put a green bezel insert on my 16610 and the chap i spoke to said no as the watch wasn't designed with this insert

Rolex dealer in Devon ordered me a black insert when I bought my LV but said they wouldn't fit it as Rolex don't customize their watches...

But what should one do if the Rolex Police show up at your front door? (The Agenzia Per il Rolex Autorità di Polizia, L'esecuzione, e la Punizione can be pretty darned cruel.)

I love my Sub LV with black insert. The green is ok, but more of a weekend party watch look vs. every day look for me.

As for the RSC, if you send it in with anything but the green insert, they will replace it with a new green insert. This happened to me recently.
