My rolex deepsea is +2 second a day is that normal for an expensive watch.
My local deal said that normal can't say I was not disappointted in hearing that! If not normal should I get it look at under Warranty...my Dealer said rolex wouldn't touch it unless it was over the chronometer stand off -/+ |

as long as it is checked against a proper timing source, then it is well with in the COSC standard.
the average daily rate of a COSC certaified movement is -4/+6 seconds |

+2 is considered very good timekeeping in a mechanical watch.
Rolex advertises their watches will adhere to COSC specs; +6 to -4 seconds per day. If you take it in for adjustment to closer than that, they will set it to run roughly +2 seconds per day. Sometimes overnight resting position can give you a slight improvement. For instance, mine runs a second or so slower if I leave it crown up on the table at night.
Quartz watches run a bit more accurately, within +/- 15 seconds a month, but few mechanical watches are as accurate as Rolexes, and I've never seen one better. Enjoy! |

Have to agree if you want almost perfect accuracy buy a quartz or radio controlled.

I would keep it the way it is. I like my watches on the +side. My DS was running -2 per day. Went back to RCS NYC. They confirmed it . Now its regualted to +1 to +1.5 per day depending on the dial position during the night.

That is excellent accuracy. Keep in mind consistency is the real key. If your watch is consistently +2 a day is as accurate as it can be. I would hesitate regulating it (trying to get it to +/- o). Might find it would be off more.

Remember also that this device is in constant mothion as you go about your day. That means all sorts of variable forces are acting on it and yet it still maintains incredible accuracy.
I think you owe your DS an apology and a hug! |

To make subtle adjustments
To gain a few sec, lay the watch dial up overnite.
To lose a few sec, lay the watch vertically on the crown. To lose a few more, lay the watch vertically, crown upwards. Comments, anyone? |

You're referring to the card below. Members have commented that it doesn't have as much effect on newer movements as on older ones.

Rolex quality wise i know it top so you are corrct to point that out! thank you guy for clearing thing up for me you lot are the best!! Padi56 i never make it out that i'm an expect in watches so pls don't get on your high horse! if i have offended people here then my apology it not intension!! yes i was disappointed in finding out my watch run at +2, now is that disappointment misplaced?... yes as i through -/+ did not effect rolex and other high end watch brand! I was wrong to belive or think like that!! i can see IF i made it up or lied about this, then you going into one then fine. but when i'm asking a Q on about something that is a fact, i'm surpraise that you have jumping down my throat! just because i'm disappointted doesn't mean i do not want my roloex or looking to change it!! if i cannot ask a Q or voice my opinion without being jump on then all you had to do was to say!! |

I read somewhere that Rolex watches have a bad reputation in regards of their accuracy but I have Omega and Hamilton and have had Breitling and all are the same. mechanical watches are not as accurate as digital but at 2 seconds a day are pretty close. Don't send your watch to calibration because you might end with a worse performer watch in the end.

Most of the time when I look at my Rolex it is to look at the watch and not to check the time anyway.
Plus or minus a couple of secs daily doesn't really bother me. So if you reset it once monthly it generally won't be that far off anyway. Just look at your Rolex and smile, I know I do.

Dont forget the Seiko spring drive is part Quartz, but for any mechanical watch to run too or inside COSC spec IMHO is a marvel. Now when you consider what a mechanical watch has to put up with daily while on wrist.Gravity is the main enemy of mechanical watches,so today no purely mechanical watch is going to be 100% accurate any brand any price.

Well not on any high horse as you put it, just stating the simple facts of the workings of any modern day mechanical watch.

I have several Rolexes and two Omega 8500 movements. I find them to be equivalently accurate, and they are both remarkable. The Seiko spring drive is a purely quartz/electronic timing system, so it is not comparable.
