Both really, but given that I only (presently) desire 1 new vs. 3 or 4 vintage pieces I think that pushes me into the 'old' camp.

I will stick to my reality which is both. I own both--I prefer both--so both it is! But if push came to shove--old would win out-as my favorite ones are discontinued!!

i am a new age guy
i bought the 16710 in 2006, but then the 116710 was released a year later - i therefore immediatly picked that up. you have to be able to evolve with rolex. you cant stand still. riedel glasses raised to the new clasps, maxi dials, and blu parachrom

I fell in love with the "classics" around 30 years ago when I was only 10 years old;
I guess it will take another 30 years for me to like the new Rolexes (which by that time will be classics too), but then again... since you are being a little "Spartanian" with your question, I choose the "classics" |

what is new and what is classi ?
I do not like the rolexes from the years '60 an '70 These 1680 subs feel like crap. A Chinese knockoff feels somethimes better You can collect them and you can invest in them but I don't like them. The newest Rolex like the 116610, no to big, too fat I prefer Rolexes made in the last 10 years but not their newest models |

I won't sit on the fence, but I will say that it depends on the model.

Al and Mike: gorgeous watches! too bad they feel like cheap chinese knock-offs.
even so, you can drop them off at my house any old time. |
