The people here prefer the old 16610 Sub.

There was a mad scramble for the 'V' series. I bought one of the very last few pieces before it was completely sold out.

Subsequently, the new ceremic Sub was sold out as well.

Plenty of gold and platinum models around though.

I think most seem to prefer the old. All the ADs I have spoken to are not too happy with the new Rolexes - they are simply not selling the way the old ones did. Anyway, since I don't like the new ones, it's of very little concern to me whether they sell or not.

No, I live in Budapest. Here prices are higher than in Wien due to the higher VAT rate, and also because of the fluctuation of HUF/EUR exchange rate. So it's only worth a trip here to buy a Rolex if you cannot buy it elsewhere :)

Initially when I was planning the "what Rolex to pick" and "where to get it" details of my first Rolex purchase, I wanted to go to Wien to save some $$, and also to have an excuse to visit that beautiful city again. However, a WIS friend told me SS Sub-C is not available in any stores in Wien (they take orders though), so I gave up that plan. BTW, my wife actually walked past Wagner an hour ago, and she said there's a whole bunch of Subs and DateJusts shown in the shop window -- except of course, for the new SS Sub-C models. So I suppose it's still impossible to buy the new Subs from stock in Wien

VAT rate goes up here in the UK after Christmas so prices will increase by at least 2%

I am planning to make a tour around Wien centre AD's tomorrow morning ( if no rain )

A few weeks ago had a chance to buy a Sub C LV for Euro 5700 and waited too long thinking about it. In hindsight should have taken it , it will be a while before that price is easily reached

BTW - Budapest , restaurant Pomodoro ( I think its called ) is the best :)

They're more expensive than the old ones & there's a world-wide recession on.

It ain't rocket science.

That makes sense to me. In the US the price went from $6000 to $7375, a 23% price increase has to have some impact on demand.

pushing $7500 for a stainless steel watch during the most depressed economic climate in more than 60 years might explain why sales are down.

i believe that the 16610 represents a better value.

Seems like there is not an strong demand currently in DK. The Sub C LNIB goes for about 11-13% below list price, and they are not moving fast.

The newness hasn't overcome the economy and price hike in South Florida. Multiple sub-c's sit in the display cases at all times. LV a different story however.

Nice watch and I like it, but I simply refuse to pay that price for a SS sub.

like all new things it takes the market a while to adjust, I remember selling golf mk5 when it first came out and everyone was still after a mk4 because they didn't like the new shape. Mk4 went up in value for a while and we were selling nearly new ones at more than list. Now how old does a golf mk4 look?

I bought my 16610 in 2000 after being on a 5 month waiting list but I'm still not sure what caused that. Circumstances have changed since then. The economic situation in many countries must have some influence. The people that always can afford an expensive watch aren't deterred by that but the ones that have to save for years might have second thoughts.
