I was in an AD in Rome last week, and they had one SS C sub. The woman said it was sold, and they were only receiving them one at a time. I don't know if it was because it appeared to be a smaller AD, or if supply is limited to all of them?

Heck, I got my GMTIIC a little over a year ago and the
MSRP was a whopping 7 grand. Thankfully, I was able
to secure a better deal and some interest free
financing. But with the way prices are being jacked up
by Rolex, I really don't know I will ever be able to
buy another. Great history or not, we are talking about
stainless steel here. No doubt a great quality watch also
but.... Out of hand pricing!

All sold out in my country. Both old (16610) and new submariners.

No discount at all for brand new. I was lucky, i got 4% discount.

You even need to pay a premium above the retail price for a brand new piece.

This applies to the stainless steel Daytona as well.

Im sure they are having a hard time selling them because of the price increase, but as AD's go, they are probably trying to move them as fast as they can and would say whatever they will to get rid of them (especially saying they won't hold on to them that long to entice a customer to buy it on the spot).

Just did a tour around Vienna. ADs no SS subs. Grey , they had a new sub LV and a almost new old LV. New LV at full MSRP , didn't want to talk about discount. Plenty TT and other rolex.

The LV's (green) are hard to come by here in Seattle, and if you're lucky they will offer it to you (I had a connection with a store Manager) but with no discount since there is abundant demand for these currently scarce watches. I did make a run up to Vancouver and checked with every AD (3 of them I found within walking distance of each other) downtown....they all had the black version, but only one had the LV and it was not for sale (display only)...no discount was being offered on the new subs at one AD (even though I've been good customer, which did irk me), while an other AD seemed to show willingness (during this dismal recession) to give 5-10% off. But they'll all take 15-20% off (just for the asking) the established Rolex models (those around for 2 or more years with the exception of the stainless Daytona or Green Milgauss). Visit a few AD's if convenient....I'm never in a rush to purchase luxury items...looking is a big part of the fun! Also don't buy as an investment...this is (functional) jewellery and subject to depreciation....buy it because you like it, want to wear it for personal enjoyment and have a connection....Cheers & Good Luck!

I went to my local AD the other day and they have a sub C that's been there for a few weeks now. Apparently it's the only ss sub c that they have for sale there. I asked for a cash deal and they basically turned me down:( oh well...

No worries M8! Water under the bridge. It is hard to read people's true intentions sometimes. What I wrote, you took as a personal "slap" and what you wrote, I took as a personal "slap". Let's just agree that we both misunderstood and move on!

The new Sub is selling very well in Iceland, both black and green, and Iceland is technically bankrupt! So if they are selling well in Iceland, they must be selling well everywhere else in the world.

IMHO, the new Sub is much nicer than the old one. The old Sub looked "old" and I have never been really attracted to it but I love the new Sub, especially the green. It has a "wow" status.

I served beer at a beerfest yesterday. Probably seen 30 Rolex watches, more than half were the Sub C. I disagree with the OP.

Ok lets not turn this into a slagging match between the 2 Subs, both are awesome and have their pros and cons.

I think the answer is fairly simple;

A) their has been a global recession and Rolex in their wisdom has done another ridiculas price hike well out of line with inflation.

B) To most non wis the new Sub is the same as the old Sub

C) Ad's are generally full of it

D) There is a lot of competition from other brands in an AD, which will offer more in terms of value and equal kudos for the owner.

A non wis walking into an AD after perhaps a Rolex may have been looking and saving for a little while, he now walks in and notices the said Sub is now a lot more money. Perhaps he will now look at another brand like Omega.

It also really depends on where the AD is located, perhaps an AD in Vegas will have them fly off the shelves while in a more sleepy location they will stay on the shelves.

I would probably guess the initial sales of the Sub C were very high as there has been a lot of interest from the Rolex fan base, now that the hype of the new release is starting to settle of course the sales will drop back to a more normal level. They will probably level out to the average sales of the 16610 maybe a little less due to economic reasons. So it will just go back again to the AD location as to whether they sell quick or gather dust.

Few weeks ago I got to my local AD first thing on a Monday as they were loading their safe with the new gear, got to hold an LV, and there's just no chance at all that sales could be low due to the product. Its beautiful, solid, bracelet's outstanding, dial's amazing, and the bezel looks great. It costs a bit more money (strangely its about the same money as the old sub here in Australia, as the launch of the sub-c and price hike happened around the same time as the exchange rate improved significantly).

If they're sitting unsold its for the same reason that nice houses are currently sitting unoccupied.

From what I have seen over the past few weeks, greens (when they can be tracked down) are lasting a few days in the windows. Blacks are sitting around for a few more days.

I have just snapped a green one up on saturday, could have had a new 16610lv last week but waited for the C version (personal choice)

I suspect a number of reasons. Some of us still preferr the classic Sub to the new one. Then of course there is the rather large increase in price, in an already bad economy.
