Magazine Recommendations Please
Though I appreciate all of the information about Rolex watches readily available on the internet, I remain a bit of a Luddite and enjoy reading the printed word and turning the pages of a book, magazine or newspaper. Can you recommend a high quality magazine(s) on watches for me? Though I'll never be a watchmaker, I'd enjoy technical articles on the inner workings of a watch, as well as information on new models, trends, materials and technologies. Obviously, my primary interest is the Rolex brand, but I realize that there probably isn't a publication devoted strictly to Rolex. What do you read?

Hey Doc,
Watchtime - great photos...but I like it for the (ahem)...articles. http://watchtime.com Revolution - Asian pub. You need to get an international subscription. Takes forever to arrive. This one is high on fashion / ads. Basically GQ / Vogue meets Watchtime ;-) http://www.revolution-press.com/ |

Hi Doc ..... I subscribe to WatchTime also. I also pick up a copy of Rolex Spirit Magazine at my local AD from time to time.

I agree on WatchTime - beautiful pictures and great stories (both on watches and the industry).

Watch Time is great - the new issue just came in today's mail. They often include supplements sponsored by specific vendors. Today was a Piaget calendar, last issue it was a complete separate magazine devoted to A Lange. I hear that early next year there will be a dedicated Rolex supplement, so your timing is good.....

Being in Asia there are plenty of them available over here, but to be honest I find most of them are pretty thin on any thing really interesting. They mostly contain adverts and are more akin to a fashion mag like GQ.

Not a rolex mag, but I strongly recommend the omega lifetime magazine. At first I thought it would be omega marketing at full gear, but I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. they usually cover a great variety of topics, including science, history, watchmaking etc. If you have an iPad, you can download the free lifetime app, which really brings the magazine to life.

I too enjoy reading magazines related to my various hobbies, for watches I read Watchtime and iWmagazine I sometimes get both in one month, sometimes just one or the other depending on what articles they have. Although I rarely see Rolex featured in these magazines since I have been reading them. But they are still good reading...

Watchtime for sure. Another one I like too is International Watch, which is monthly.
