Date Change before 12:00 midnight
My sea-dweller is keeping perfect time but the date changes at 11:50 PM and not at 12:00 AM. Some of the posts I read mentioned that the date changes at the strike of 12:00 AM. Could someone please clarify if this is Ok ?

Not sure what post you may have read it on, but a Rolex will almost never change dates at the stroke of midnight............ they are almost always a few minutes either way.........

It would never change date exactly at midnight.

In my experience only quartz watches will change bang on midnight.

It's one of the quirks of owning a fine mechanical watch

Lange's change at midnight but most mechanical movements aren't up to par with Lange. It's just something you'll have to life with.

I have a sea-dweller as well and it also changes around 11:50, when I had it serviced, I asked if they could make sure that the date changed over at the stroke of midnight, they looked at me like I had a third Eye.

Wow I'm in the minority. My 20 yr old gmt ii changes at 12:00:05-15 consistently. That watch is always dead on time wise too. It is by far my most accurate.

My Yacht-Master changes at 12:01 AM. I don't stare at it that much! I can always hear it click if it's quiet.

I witnessed the spectacle last night at 12.00am & 45 secs. It was a good job I didn't blink or yawn as I would have missed it

nothing wrong with the watch or the mechanism. Just the hour hand is inaccurately installed. i'm not a watchmaker, but it must be very hard to get the minute hand top-dead-center especially with a non-quicket piece. what irritates me is when the hour hand is improperly installed. so when the minute is TDC, the hour hand is shifted off of the plots a bit. that annoys me and is indicative of a poor service.

Mine changes at noon so I don't have to stay up late to check.
