AD in Miami had a SS Daytona Black Dial First Person to PM me get the info

If anyone is looking for a Daytona SS black dial PM me and I will send you the contact info. He said he it has to be MSRP so be warned no discount.

Damn if I only waited a week I could have had a black dial instead of white.

I understood that Rolex had increased production of the SS Daytona so that availability was increasing. Can anyone confirm? Conversely, is now the time to grab one as quickly as possible?

Cheers

I think Rolex increased the price until the availability increased

You buy it because you like it and want to have it.. not because it is hard to get.. or it could appraise over time

Wholeheartedly agree. I am not looking to be mercenary.

It is a question, for me, of allocation of resources and priorities. I do want to pick one up and have a line on one but would prefer to defer for a few months. If they are still scarce it may be worth me juggling and grabbing the one I have a line on and not risk being unable to find one in a few months.

Wait a minute...an AD in Florida (Rolex capital of the USA) has a Daytona in stock?

I don't believe it.

Not sure if the production has increased. I think it's more like the demand has decreased, therefore it seems like there are more available at the ADs....

I say you should pick up a daytona asap, especially before a price or demand increase....who knows what will happen in a few months, u may get struck by lightening or etc, but atleast today you'll have that daytona on your wrist!

I was just in Bangkok this weekend and came across 3 AD and they all had both white and black face daytonas available for sale. They also had both in the new brand store in the airport. I have also seen them available in both colours in my local AD in Denmark.

I have been out of the watch scene for about five years. When I was last following the Daytona, the SS was going over list for the same cost as a two tone. It does seem that it is much more readily available now. My AD had told me that Rolex increased production of these due to the increasing price of gold. This is why I raised the question earlier as I know that sales people sometimes have a tendency to give "off the cuff" facts.

Is it time to try to negotiate a discount which, in my past experience, was nearly impossible.

Regardless, it is a beautiful watch and I am pleased to see that they appear to be readily available. Thanks for the heads up about availability in your respective necks of the woods.

I think I am going to defer. (The bride will be much happier)

Cheers

Sanj

I actually heard the opposite - a drastic production decrease, coupled with the price increase. Obviously I have no official Rolex word to confirm that (other than the obvious price increase that we've seen).
