Daytona Waiting List

Hi, I have been this site for sometime now but this is my first post.I just sold my SS Submariner because of financial reasons and I already missed my baby.

Now I'm thinking of getting a white dial SS Daytona. I know it really hard to get SS Daytona through the authorized dealer and I also know I can buy one on ebay or grey market. But I wouldn't feel comfortable paying the premium and have no Rolex warranty. Is there anyways I can buy the white dial SS Daytona by November? I think by the November I should have enough money for a white dial SS Daytona. Any suggestions will be helpful. I also heard Rolex give out more Daytonas to Hawaii and Las Vegas because of tourists. Is this true?

First welcome to TRF well you would be very lucky to get a SS Daytona at list anywhere in this world.Myself personally don't know why all the fuss over the SS Daytona. And if I was in the market would not pay more that MRP,so you might be able to pick up a second hand one.But mostly you would still pay a premium price for one.Now in the second market in Daytona,a Zenith powered one would be desirable. Because IMO they will be the next collectable must have vintage Daytona especially in SS, if current SS trend stays with us.As for the warranty well not much goes wrong with Rolex.Except for perhaps a bit of regulation if needed. And most grey market dealers have there own 2 year warranty should a
problem arise.

Well vry much welcome to TRF n ya I can see we r neighbours
Well I dont know why its such a hype with SS daytonas.
I have just accepted the fact and I think evrybody shall accept that the current price for SS Daytona is $10500 as I think 95% people are getting them at that price only
Now since a long I'm noticing the hype of premium n MSRP crap.
Rolex knows this and then too they are not doing anything to rectify n people are just getting obsessed with the facts of rare infact super rare watch SS Daytona which doesn't make any sense to me.
SS Daytonas are available but much above their MSRP that doesn't mean they are not available. Even ADs are selling it above MSRP n Rolex are not doin anything that shows its all deliberate to strengthen the fact the watch is rarer n rarer.
I have accepted the thumbrule that SS Daytona n a TT Daytona are same cost but the resale value of a SS Daytona is much higher than the TT version.
So, I just had a TT Daytona thinking that I would have a $2000 hit if I resale it which would not have been the case in SS one and also I preferred to have a lot of gold against my $11000

I wouldn't be too worried about the factory warranty as it is a Rolex, afterall. Most of the grey market guys give you a year to 2 years anyway.

I went to Ben Bridge Jeweler and gave them my name and number to put down on the daytona waiting list. But I doubt I'll get the watch before november. And if they get the watch they will sell it to me at MSRP, which is good thing for me so I dont have to pay premium. If Ben Bridge Jeweler doesnt call be before november I'll have to buy it from reputable ebay seller or grey market at above retail.

Welcome!!

I searched for a new SS Daytona for quite some time! Not because it is in high demand, because I like the casual look of stainless! I finally located NIB TT Daytona from AD and purchased it at discount! I have to admit the TT is much more elegant than SS and definitely will become much more desireable in future!! Then AD calls me week later and say's your SS Daytona just came in!! Well you guys know what I had to Do? Yep, buy it at MSRP! What I'm getting at-is this-Buy what you like and will wear!! Good Luck!!

Thanks for all the help from you Forum Guys!!

Also I see some of the rolex watches that comes with boxes and papers that are undated or have no name of the purchaser. Is this mean that whoever buys the watch can have rolex warranty???

Like this one on the ebay

I like the BF SS Daytona but only would move for it at (or near) MRSP.

I have made a couple of unsuccessful offers on different dial 116518 at what I consider to be sensible prices. They remain unsold at the dealers' wishful thinking prices.

The SS Daytona is nice especially the white, but I would rather just get a TT WG one instead. But if I do come across a SS one, I'll buy it and flip it.

Notice that you live in SF and that makes it even harder to get a SS Daytona without being a "good customer" from an AD. A saleperson at Shrive (spelling?) told me that they only sell SS Daytona to customer who spent $200,000 at the store

Yesterday, I dropped by an AD in the south bay and looking at the TT GMT again, the salepersons noticed my SS Daytona and told me that everyday there were so many people just walked in and asked for a SS Daytona. She herself never even sold a single SS Daytona to anyone yet.

Good luck walking in a Rolex AD in the Bay and buying one at MSRP, there're so many rich people live here where average house prices reach $1,000,000 , take a notice how many Porsche, Benz, BMW even Ferrari/Lamborghini in you see in a parking lot or on the roads.

lol! If you get the SS Daytona, even if its just the white dial, by November of this year, I don't know, I'll paypal you some money or something. You literally have to wait for YEARS to get one. A customer of ours, and it was a good customer with a nice purchase history, so he was one of the 'priority' people on the list, waited since 1999 for one, got one in 03, i believe.

As far as someone mentioning about why they are so desirable, its BECAUSE of it being that super exclusive. If they made more of them, they would probably be less desirable. People want what's hard to get, people want to be 'that guy with SS Daytona'.
