10 seconds a day

my watch is losing about 10 seconds a day and is still under warranty for another 19 moths should i give it to rsc or wait till warranty has a few months left on it?

If it's consistently that far out of COSC specs, I'd send it in under warranty.

Is it a Casio? a Rolex? It may just need to be de-magnetized. My Sub was the same way. I took it to a local RSC in S.F. and they made it right for free while I waited.

You'd probably need to leave for a few days so they can check it in different positions, but the DJ is capable of much better accuracy than that.

That's out of COSC range so send it in and see whats going on.

Should have asked if you are using a proper reference to check your accuracy, like an atomic clock or one of the web-based time web sites. It can make all the difference in the world. Also, is your watch fully wound?

As mentioned, you need to be checking the accurace properly.. Many references that we use every day are simple digital clocks that update on a rether haphazard schedule, so it may be less accurate than your Rolex..

Use a proper standard such as Time.gov, or http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/simpletime.html

Check it over a few days (without readjusting your watch), then divide by the number of days to get a good handle on it's accuracy.

If it really is off by 10 seconds, then by all means, send it in for regulation.. There is no reason to wait "...til the warranty only has a few months left on it"; Rolex will not service the watch and extend your warranty, they will only regulate it.. unless something is actually wrong with it..

As others have said it is out of spec so I'd get it regulated under warranty. However, as well as using something like time.gov to establish the exact difference you need to make sure you are subjecting it to the same behaviour during the periods when checking it. E.g. taking it off at night and resting it in different positions will result in loss or gain of time as will keeping it on. In other words, make sure during the checking period you subject it to typical daily use for you and can establish a consistent gain / loss of time in order that the regulation has the desired effect, if that makes sense.

RSC can check it on the spot or the same day and tell you what needs to be done, after you agree with the terms expect up to 2 weeks or more before you get your watch back.

Hmmmm.....that doesn't "Superlative" to me and is out of COSC spec's of an average of -4/+6 seconds per day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COSC).
Definitely take it back to your AD to have it checked over, probably just needs to be regulated and/or perhaps demagnitized.
For comparison my GMTIIc looses only 15 seconds over 2 weeks or about 1 second per day (everyones watch is a little different).

Shirtguy. I would send it now--10 seconds variation would be a bit on the too much side. Further, 19 months period is still a long time to go. Best of luck.

Well, the way I learn from my watchmaker in Las Vegas shop is that if a a Rolex is running -10 sec/day it needs a full service an a regulation after that because a simple de-magnetizeation will take out -0.5 to 1 sec/day at best. So, I would say your Rolex needs full service. If you invested so much money in a Rolex to keep you happy I see no point to care for a full service fee. Go ahead and pay the price and have it within COSC specifications. Why agonizing about $400 or $500 full service? What's $500? Just change pocket money anyway nowadays Get a full house Aces over Kings and get it done

I really dont think it needs a full service. After all it must be fairly new if it still has 19months left on the waranty.

Send it in for regulation or better still take it yourself and see if they will do it for you while you wait.

I'd love to have a RSC near me as If I want to send my sub away for regulation I can see it being a four week wait.

I have a problem with my tt sub seems to be gaining about 17 sec. a day it's 6 years old so I'm thinking of sending it to RSC for a full service
