Help - OE Deployment Straps Uncomfortable

Hello Good People,

During the last +/- six months, I have purchased both an 88 (Luminor) and a 288 (Radiomir). I love both pieces but find that the respective deployment buckles are uncomfortable. Because of their size and my relatively large wrists (8.5 inches), I wear them rather snug but not tight so that they don't unnecessarily interfere w/ the cuffs on my long-sleeve shirts -- I, unfortunately, have to wear suits to work. My Rolex oyster bracelets are much more comfortable. Anyway, I was thinking about purchasing a Panerai strap with the conventional buckle...sorry, I don't know the technical name but it looks like a belt buckle. Does anyone have an opinion re whether s uch buckles are more confortable than the deployments? Kindly let me know. Thanks very much.

Cheers,

It's called a tang buckle and they are much more comfortable for me. It's personal preference though.

I switched out the deployant for tang and never looked back.

I too have 8.5" wrists and wear aftermarket straps with tang buckles 90% of the time on my Panerai watches. However, when I need to dress beyond a button down and slacks I put a deploy buckle on with an aftermarket strap. I find both very comfortable, but the OEM straps don't fit me, or are on the last hole which I don't like.

There are a plethora of aftermarket strap makers who build beautiful straps in any length, buckle type or leather/exotic skin imaginable. I've got a custom Rob Montana strap on my PAM 25 (8 inch wrist) which is supremely comfortable!

I like both but wear a tang 99% of the time. Some companies, like JLC for one, have very comfortable deployants but the Panerai new ones never have done it for me. The first generation ones to me were super comfy and easy to wear. Those babies are long gone now though.

I tend to use aftermarket bands with the tang buckle.

Thanks for all the responses, folks. I will ask Santa for a couple of straps w/ a Tang buckle. I hope to find one under the tree next week.

Cheers,
