My new dial, pictures included! :D
So in the ongoing story that is my Rolex:
A summary to bring you up to date: bought an amazing Rolex. Then decided I really didn't like the dial and went through the process of finding a new dial to exchange out. Last weekend, I found the dial I wanted and agreed for them to get my dial exchanged. Paul (my awesome authorised dealer person) said it would be about two weeks' wait. So all week, I cannot describe the drag on time! I've been thinking Rolex at every opportunity. I have been missing my Rolex sooooo much. It's been delicious somehow, a nice thing to get excited about and think about, but I am so impatient and was dreading another week of it. And feeling pretty glum because this weekend I had to do weekend nights. Fancifully, I was thinking on Thursday, just imagine... just imagine if it came through in one week instead of two... and I brushed that off as seriously wishful thinking, because I was sure even the post would take longer than a week. So it made the beginning of my first night shift when my mum texted me to say that my Rolex was ready! :D I couldn't believe it! :D And then I was sooo frustrated I couldn't get there during the weekend to pick it up. Bloody work! But today! Today I went. I worked all night and survived the last night shift of this round. I didn't sleep, I just drove home, and then my mum drove me to the authorised dealers. Paul was there (he always seems to be there) and he went and got my Rolex out their safe. To be honest I think being as tired as I am helped a lot, because I had no energy for anxiousness, just excitement. And I was soooo excited! Paul was mean though! He made a big show of taking a long time polishing it with his special cloth before showing me! Grr. :D Ah man, it is SO MUCH BETTER than the other one! It is amazing! Eeeeee. :D I felt such relief as soon as I saw it. It's beautiful! It completely honours all the things I loved about the previous dial, such as the lovely cloud effect, but it's a beautiful colour and the diamonds really twinkle. It's lovely! :D The RELIEF. The other one I was finding fault with all the time, and this one has no faults. :D I'm soooo happy! :D It's such a beautiful, classy, understated watch, with no gaudiness or ick. It's exactly what I wanted. The other one I wouldn't have wanted people to look at, because I myself didn't like it. This one I'll have to work hard to keep out of people's faces. This new dial is like balm to my soul, and looking at it brings me peace. The other one did exactly the opposite, to the extent that I never wanted to look at it because of the way it made me feel. And that was just in one week. Conversely, I am admiring this new dial sooo much. :D I can't take my eyes off of it. I put the Rolex on my wrist and gave Paul a big hug. I think he was very bewildered and surprised by this. :D The next time I go in his direction I will have written a letter to him with a cc to Rolex, and I will find some sort of wine to give him, or something like that. His customer service has been exceptional. I have tried to take good photos of my beautiful watch, but I do apologise, I don't have a great camera and my photo-taking skills are lacking. But here goes, below, just four pictures. Tomorrow, if the sun is out and it looks different, I will post more pictures. :D I have previewed this post and I know that the pictures possibly look very similar to the previous dial. You know what? That's a great thing. I loved the PICTURES of the previous dial, but I hated the way it looked in real life. These pictures actually look nearly identical to the real life dial, and that delights me. :D Best wishes everyone, and thanks for following me on this journey! One very excited and hugely relieved, Lydia. x |

If I rememebr correctly...you had recently aquired the watch but were not pleased with the colors the white mop was showing???
Glad you are now happy with your watch. Each MOP dial is unique. Your watch looks great!

I can feel your joy
The look of the dial can make a huge difference. I agree this one looks so much better than the one you had before. This one looks stunning with a real nice MOP whiteness It was great that your AD could change the dial for you. Thanks for sharing your experience Happy endings are so cool

great stuff Lydia - a great service is always welcomed.
great looking dial - cant not really remember what your previous dial looked like. are you aware that the large chain ADs have the 3 months free dial change policy when purchasing a DJ/DJII (not too sure about the DD/DDIIs though...) |

Thank you very very much. :D Quote:
Thank you very much. Yes it does! I'm THRILLED!!! I am very very happy. I do hope that someone else gets my old dial and feels about it what I feel about this one. And I'm going to enjoy this for a long time! <-- I'm enjoying these smilies!!! |

Isn't it! Thank you. :D
Me too! I need to go out in the sunlight - so far I've only seen it under artificial light, which was the time when I didn't like the other dial. The other dial was quite pretty in real sunlight, so I wonder what I'll see when outside in the sun!! Quote:
And yeah, all mother-of-pearl is completely unique, which is one of the reasons I love it. Once I'd seen that Rolex do dials with it, I just knew it was the dial type that I had to have, and I couldn't move backwards from that to another dial type. Thank you... ... and thank you! :D I will. :D Very very pleased. |

I'm glad! Although I love my dial for myself I love that other people like it too! It's interesting actually. With the previous dial, everyone was saying how nice it was, and that was lovely... but instead of warming me to the dial, my reaction to their responses made me realise that I really couldn't tolerate the dial any longer. During the course of the day after I had posted that entry I went and phoned the dealers and asked for something to be done. So hey, look! This forum is super awesome for many reasons!!!
Thanks! :) I agree - if you couldn't tell already! ;) Thank you. :D Quote:
It's interesting that you say that! I have pulled up pictures of both on my screen, and the pictures of my old dial are somewhat similar to the new pictures (although the difference between them in real life is huge). But I'm glad you can tell. Yeah, well they were very good with me, and it's really added to my experience. I had no doubts about them and therefore didn't have that added stress of having to battle for what I wanted. That would have been disappointing, upsetting and it would have added insult to injury. It was a good process that I went through and I'm grateful. I've enjoyed posting about my experience. It's been a bit like blogging, and it has made a difference for me. It's been lovely to express my feelings to a group of people who have the same appreciation for Rolex. It's been helpful for me to work through my thought processes and properly solidify them, if that makes sense. My understanding is that you are the founder of this forum? I would therefore like to add a heartfelt thanks to you. And it's great to get comments from the 'Boss'. Lydia. Thank you very much! :D I am very happy! :D |

Very nice dial, almost looks like meteorite due to the single pearl white colour. Very cute watch well suited for a girl with Anne Hathaway's skin tone.

You can see pictures of my dial here. :D I love the pictures to be honest, the texture is lovely - but in real life the colours were not. |
