As far as professional models! I consider the SS Sub date to be the classic standard. How do you feel?

Well.............YES

But I would add "Diver's watch" to "classic standard", since there are many other Rolex watches that could be considered as being "standard classics" in their own right.

i vote the explore I for the classic looks, sub looks just way too macho for my view.

Even though I own an SD, I voted yes since it is iconic. However the true dive watch would be the SD.

I'd guess that it's the most recognizable (and copied, counterfeitted, and "homage'd") of all the Rolex professional models.

Yes! I agree that the SD is the true dive watch, which I also have. I guess you can say that the Sub is the default between 100m and 4000 feet.

Yes, most definitely a classic! Actually the SubDate was my very first rolex I bought for myself!

Well, the Sub no date would make more sense to vote on because the Rolex seen across the world was in the 007 films since the early 60s.
