Maxi Dial.
I don't know if I can live without one. I love it. My eyesight is great but I can't read up close very well. Lately I've needed reading glasses.
I put on the LV tonight and went out to a dark bar and I could see that Maxi Dial all night. It was great. Some predict that the Maxi Dial is the wave of the future for the Subs and other Rolex icons. Some traditionalists have resisted this change, but I say bring it on. The maxi dial on my LV and my YM are awesome. Love it. In fact, I am not sure I want a Rolex without it. Flame away fellas. |

I think you may be right there. Currently maxi dials are on the following:
50th anni GMT 50th anni Sub (Kermit) Old Yatchmaster Got me thinking and drifting away from the Exp II lust I have been in for a while. The Yatchmaster Platinum is a beaut model. I saw a photo of Kermit the other day that someone had taken and it didn't look too bad either. There's a dealer in Melbourne has a Z Series Kermit asking US$4943. |

Exactly my thoughts, JJ. But I am afraid the old Sub dial is going......going.....gone (soon anyway).

Myself like maxi dials but the non gold surround vintage type ones, now those with the modern lume would look great.

Eddie, that's one slick looking clasp, BUT looks like one scratch magnet.

I really like the wider minute hand on the maxi-dial. I find the conventional one is just a tad too narrow when viewed in darkeness.

I love the Maxi Dial on my YM too, but I noticed the hour hand does not have the same wider hand of the other Maxi! Looks a bit odd!

The maxidial would be a contributing factor in my decision to buy. As a matter of fact, I'm thinking of going with the LV as it does have the maxidial and I love the green bezel insert.
It does make things easier to see in low light. However, its not for everyone. C |

I like the Maxi dial--for me it adds readability, but I suppose it all depends on your eyesight.

The Maxi is the future. Some people will about it and some people will about it. For those that about it, go buy a Timex and the people that give the Maxi high acclaim will still be wearing a Rolex.

I like them both. The maxi is nice and it is refreshing to be able to see the dial well at night, especially when driving. The sizes are not much bigger so I don't get the crowded look thing.

I think the maxi dial and big hands looks great, and that's good attribute of a sport watch when readability is important.

Great eyesight = reading glasses. This is the ultimate maxi dial No glasses required

Never been a fan of the maxi dial and the accompanying larger hands. Like JJ, I too think that they crowd the dial and make the watch look claustrophobic. If that indeed is "the future" then I'll get my hands on what I want in the present, and prepare my future to be filled either with Omega or the endless search for the vintage pieces.
Unfortunately, IMHO, Rolex isn't reviving the maxi dial to reinforce their heritage, it's to play catch up in the world of bling. You can't make the changes they've made to some of their "sport" models and then fall back on the maxi dial to save it for the traditionalists. All that considered, the green bezel on the LV saves it for me...probably the only maxi-dial watch I'll own. |

Correct me if I am wrong, but on the TT GMT and the new SS GMT the hour hand is also wider. Where as on the SUb LV and YM, only the minute hand is wider. ??
