Help with Tudor

Hello all. I have never been a fan of Tudor watches with the exception of the vintage blue sub or the recent Heritage model. However, I am looking at vintage pieces and have come across an ad for 2 Tudors. Only 1 picture of each is provided. I am trying to get more pics.

What do you guys think? The snowflake hands on that dial look off to me but I am far from an expert. Appreciate your input.

get more pics. esp of the serial numbers. where are the crown guards on the first one. you have to look at the dial closely on the snowflake. focus on the '=' sign above the six marker... which is hidden in the pic. harry

OKay, received a few extra pictures today. I have been given serial numbers that are slightly visible but do not come out on pictures. Both also bear the 94010 reference number.

Do these look legit? I think I would probably need to replace the crystal. What is odd is how pristine the inserts look on these 2 when compared to the rest of the watch.

hey dan. its really hard to tell. i like the pic of the watch back. good detail on the print and a feint trace of the endlink on the lugs. this is good. look, it depends on what the seller wants. you also have to understand that the square hands are incorrect for a dial w/ round markers. get confirmation that the REGISTERED DESIGN above the serial numbers do not have bad "E"s. do you know what i am referring to? what's he asking for these watches? PM me. harry in montreal

Harry thanks for your input. I thought the same about the square hands on round dial markers until I came across this thread here.

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=119888

So now I am confused. The gentleman is asking for a best offer so I want to make sure I don't get screwed. I cannot physically get to the watches as they are in BC.

Also, the markings on the case are not visible with a camera.

Thanks again.

Dan, i have been looking at tudor subs for ages. i am still looking for a decent fixer upper/project. you should assume that the one with the square hands either has a replaced dial or replaced hands. the parts could be authentic, but have been mated to the watch. the most likely scenario was that the dial was rotted. its veyr unusual for a round dial/square hand combo. however tons of square dialed subs have rotted out. i like the corroded dials because it gives me comfort that the watch is legit. you cant fake corrosion! if he wants 1800 or less, you should be OK, so long as you get some better pics. also, the pics are mixed up. who knows which watch has that nice caseback. harry

Harry thanks. I appreciate your help on this. Are you suggesting 1800$ for the 2 watch heads? I know I will need to spend some money on these. I am thinking of turning one into a blue sub. Any thoughts on where in could source the necessary pieces?

Dan

no, each case, if legit, is worth 1000. you would haev to watch ebay or find a trusted seller on here to get the parts required to convert it. there are a lot of fake parts out there. let me know if you end up passing on one of the two (PM me). i am also looking for one tudor sub. if the square hands are original, they are worth 300 alone. likely, the second of the 2 watches is less desirable. harry

Harry, thanks. I will let you know what happens. The seller is away until Tuesday for the long weekend. I will contact him them and see if we can strike a deal.
