Rolex Oyster Royalite

I recently located a Rolex Oyster Royalite which I believe that my father may have bought in Canada when posted to the Rockies to train British Army troops there. There is a number on the back 229864. Does anyone have any idea what the year of manufacture might be?

Google "Rolex serial number chart". You will have some options to find the information if you believe the number is a serial number. Typically, the serial numbers are on the case sides though.

Good luck, post pics - this is the gallery section.
