Hi All,

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. I found this site while doing some research on an internet store. Responses were positive enough for me to move forward with the purchase which will be here today. We'll see...

If all works out this will be my first Rolex. My current watch is a Breitling Chronomat I bought new back in '94 that I loathe... just took me a looong time to finally do something about it. lol

Thank you to all the members for the wealth of knowledge on this forum.

Regards,
Nels

Thank you all for the welcome!

Got the watch.

Grr, well, so much for that. lol

Everything looked good as expected but there was a small mark on the bezel(almost looks like ‘26’ stamped in it) and it was older than discussed. I don’t doubt it was authentic but I didn’t even spend the money to have it verified, it went back the next day(yesterday).

Initial conversation said the watch was 2 years old. Follow up conversation was told by a different rep the watch was ‘most likely’ a 2003. Now, I know I should have asked for a more concrete answer but gave the benefit of the doubt.

The watch was a 2000. So we’ve gone from the watch being 2 years old, to 8 years old to finally 11 years old. So I more than ‘most likely’ sent the watch back. :)

A shame really because I like the watch but as a matter of principle I will not reward a business for intentionally misleading(I doubt this is the case) or inaccurately representing a product. Not ever and definitely not with the dollars involved here. They did offer to make right and replace it with a newer model but to say my confidence was compromised is an understatement.

So, that unpleasantness aside, I see a lot of highly recommended sellers here on the forum. Since I don’t have enough posts for the ‘Wanted To Buy’ section is it inappropriate to PM a seller with an inquiry for a particular model?

Thanks again all,
Nels

Welcome to TRF Nels!!

And no it's not inappropriate. There are many trusted sellers, search your way around, look into who's who. I am sure they will do all they can to help.
