Rolex VS Starbucks

Hi guys - In Hong Kong for business and spent some time in town checking out the local watch scene (vintage and new)

OMG - there is a freakin Rolex AD on every corner of the street here (as there is for PP, JLC, AP Omega etc) - it feels like the local Starbucks

The irony is that when you walk around in certain parts of town - you are constantly approached by 'vendors' offering you tailor services or a fake watch...

On a separate note: had a layover in Bangkok and strolled around the airport a bit. Seriously upgraded their internation terminal and again lots of high end stores. The Rolex AD had a white Daytona on display, which retailed for approx $13.5K...

I guess another sign of a booming economy - lots of demand for high end products.

Have a good trip... HK is known for having lots of ADs be it Rolex with other high end brand. Did you get any photo? Can never get tired of looking at the busy streets and neon lights of HK.

Is the closing of ADs and moving towards boutique solely limited to USA?

Not necessarily "solely limited", but there are definitely other regions of the world where Rolex is selling MUCH BETTER than the USA.
