Poll: Which do you like best: "old" GMT, or "New GMT"?

I'm debating (with myself) whether to get the "new" GMT (after just getting the "old" GMT), can you folks help me decide whether to add the new GMT to my line-up?

Pros: Snazzy bezel, "new" movement, maxi dial, awsome bracelet
Cons: Scratch-magnet bracelet, high price, and I just got the "old" GMT (which is a classic) a month ago! (I must be nuts to think about a new watch so soon...)

I bought my 16710 in Dec 2006. Ordered my 116713LN in July 2006, recieved it in May 2007. Think they are both great.

I voted for the old GMT. Maybe I'll change my mind when they come out with different colored bezels.

Old GMT II,with a pepsi bezel Like the new GMT II better in ss,compared to the tt version.

Both are nice, but would choose the Newer one in TT or SS due to new improved movement, maxi dial and bracelet. Plus personnally I like the Green 24 hour hand.

The TT Version of the new GMT II, is probably IMHO the best looking dial Rolex has put out, and one of the few watch dials that has captivated my attention. The new improved movement is also great (better shock resistance, better anti magnetic properties).

Only two things to not like about the newer GMTs, (both TT and SS) is the higher price and the polished center links (which is an easy fix).

...I agree with the polished center links, but wear it for a few days and they are not polished anymore

Actually, if you flip the bracelet around, you notice the center Gold links are brushed. Like the brushed Gold look.

I prefer the new one, that's OBVIOUSLY why I bought it.

The features were worth the price.

Yeah, the polished bracelet will scratch up. But, when it starts to look terrible, just have your AD give it the brushed finish to match the rest.

Hell, you just got the old one, don't bother with the new. No sense trying to have the latest, greatest thing. You don't drive the newest, greatest vehicle, nor do you get to go out and pick a new mate (assuming you're married) so just be happy with what you have. That's what Daddy always said...

There is something classic and traditional about the oldre style GMTs. The Thinner case is nice, but the new super case is nice as well.

They are all nice watches, and can't go wrong with any of them. They are jsut different.

I can understand why you miss it Chad... I bought an LV the other day and it is a great looking watch but the GMT has been the watch I have wanted for years... Thanks again

I don't knwo yet the new GMT is just that, it's new time will tell if the ceramic bezel was the best way for Rolex to go. I like the old colors the Pepsi was my favorite.

I saw the new GMT about a couple of weeks ago at an AD and could have picked it up for a 10% discount, but couldn't make up my mind... Maybe I need to go back to the store and man-handle that watch a bit more! I'm definitely tempted! To those who haven't held this watch in their hands yet, all I have to say is that the bezel is awsome, and this watch has a substantial feel in the hand and on the wrist - the clasp is outstanding, and the center links, which are solid, are gorgeous - I just wish they weren't polished!

I thought all the links were solid on this thing...

Anyway, if you don't like them, then buy the watch, have your AD go to the back and but that thing on a buffer wheel and have him mark up the band. After a few seconds, you'll have the brushed finish across the WHOLE band.

Although I've been obsessed with the Sub LV for the past few months...I must admit that the NEW GMT II is a masterpiece!
I've only seen the solid gold version at my AD here, but just comparing the design to the old GMT...there is an amazing difference.
The case demntions are just so appealing to me! The bezel is without question one of the best changes they could have made to the GMT. Or the Sub for that matter...I could even see a new version of the YM coming out with a ceramic bezel. The solid link bracelet and the new clasp are great improvements as well...and those are just the cosmetic improvements.
The movement is, from what i've read, the perfect movement for a sports watch.
The salesman at my AD (Ben Bridge) said that he's heard talk about the Subs going the way of the GMT II. Beefier case, ceramic bezels and higher quality bracelets. I'm hoping!
As for getting the "new" one after just getting the "old" one. Be happy with what you have. But if you can't...I was wondering what the Rolex policy is on trade ins? Maybe you can take that route???

Did you see the SS and TT side by side? I can't imagine deciding w/o being able to see both together. Agree on the polished but as has been pointed out that is easily remedied.

I sold my few months old GMT II (pepsi) and this means I don't like it. Would I like the new model better? I don't know because I haven't bought one yet.

I like the "old" GMT II. Don't like the polished links in the new one. Besides, my Z-series GMT is as "new" as the new model

Imho, the older GMT will never go out of style. I've not had the opportunity to handle the newer version. No question the solid center links, milled clasp, ceramic bezel, and movement are nice upgrades.
However, the classic GMT still has it's advantages. 120 click bezel w/ interchangeable inserts, brushed center linls, interchangeable bracelets, and last but not least............RED 24 hour hand!
I hope to have the newer GMT II someday. Until then this classic will do just fine.

Dan P made some great comments in his post and I definitely agree. I voted for the previous model GMT as well. Granted, I have one so it's like voting for myself, but there are plenty of other Rollies I would get before the new GMT. I don't care for the polished center links, maxi dial and green GMT hand. The super case is definitely cool, however, and I do like the fact that they improved the movement. I definitely aslo prefer the SS to the TT version. The pictures that I've seen from the watch from actual owners as opposed to the promotional photos make the watch look SIGNIFICANTLY better.
