Icon11 Two Questions - Lug Width & Wheretafindastrap?

Wanna put a NATO on my new GMT, but before I do -- does anyone with a new GMT (or older for that matter) have it on a NATO? I don't mean just a black Zulu, I mean the two colored NATO. If youdo, can you post a picture? I didn't see one in the other NATO thread.

Also, what size do I need.

And -- got a link for a source you've used in the past and were happy with.

Hmm, should I get the one with or without the keeper bars? I have a seiko without, but don't know if they'd be that bad.

Does the watch really sit that high if the strap is doubled up under the case?

I don't think they are. Hard to tell from these pics, but I find the fit great.

On a 1680 Sub,

On a Seamaster,

Thanks. I looked back on that thread, and no, they did not look too high.

Guess we'll see when it gets here. Had to order a tool, too, to remove the bracelet.

Hope the strap folks across the pond have a pretty speedy shipment.

I want to say it took about a week if memory serves.

Hello Mike...

I would like to get a NATO strap for my 1680 as well - it looks great

Where do you normally get them and what is the size to fit?
Are they from rolex and anything to do with original?

I would recomend www.westcoastime.com if you are buying in the US. I just got mine 3 weeks ago and love it. The service was very fast and the product great.

www.lapolicegear.com

Search for Zulu.

You want a Zulu band, will not cause to the watch to sit as high up. They have a wide range of color selections.

Thanks for the links

To fit onto a 1680, what is the size of the strap - 20mm?

The NATO bands are very thin so two thicknesses are not a problem, even with my SD.
I have snipped the keepers off of this NATO band and put a Seiko on it. Contrary to some comments the band doesn't slip all that easily through the lug pins - you have to pull it through after it has been on for a while as it takes 'shape'.
I have cut the band short to suit the buckle keeper and sealed the end with a gas lighter flame (just a touch will do - dont nuke it).

Without the keepers the buckle relocates to a more comfortable position.
Took some quick pix as I am wearing it today. The buckle shot looks a bit tight but as you can see from the crease I usually wear it on the next hole. I couldn't be bothered taking another pix.
I also have a Seiko Monster on a JB Nato and it looks neat considering the size of the puppy.
