1680 running fast
I know there are a lot of posts regarding this matter, but my Sub 1680 is running 5 minutes a week fast, which is 42 seconds a day. It has always run fast since I bought it last August.
I wore it for a week, starting last monday and regulated the timings every night by placing the watch crown side down (which I understand can lose a few seconds). My question is this.....I still have a few weeks left on the one year warranty from the UK internet based dealer from which I bought it. Should I send it back to be regulated as it is far out from COSC standard. |

A well-serviced cal. 1570 movement should be able to be regulated to +/- a couple of seconds/day or less. Something is definitely amiss with your watch, so if you can you should return it for a check-up and regulation (at least). However, if you know of a good local watchmaker I would first take it to him to inspect the movement. It's possible that it was never properly serviced, and if that's the case I wouldn't bother sending it back to the dealer, as things likely would not improve, and you'd have to deal with the postal system and all.

If its covered and you trust them with your watch, then I say have them regulate it for you.

This is the most important part of your decision.

I would do something. As stated the movement is very capable of outstanding accuracy.

Certainly take it back to be regulated to within COSC standards. I am not a watchmaker but I think two possible culprits to consider are;
1) Dirty movement that needs to be cleaned 2) Magnetized movement |
