Okay, most of us have been around long enough to find out about the Milgauss, original Turn-O-Graph and Deep Sea Special to see what they look like.

Amongst those that haven't been mentioned much are the White GMT, Oysters with left-hand crowns and triple-calender chronographs, pictured below.

Can you guys think of any other rare Rolexes that havent been discussed much? Even better, do you have pictures?

This weekend I was in New York and looked through a copy of the New York guide in the hotel room. I came across an ad for Michael Ashton, a jewlery store on the upper East Side. The ad showed several vintage Rolexes, along with a couple of vintage PPs. The one that really caught my eye was a Rolex triple date chronograph, ca. 1950's, ref. no. 6036. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture. It was a neat looking watch, and clearly a forerunner of the Daytona. Another vintage Rolex in the ad was a Moonphase, ca. 1950's, ref. no. 6062.

Does anyone know anything about these watches?

Aw, it's not so bad - doesn't Rolex have a pretty strong association with golf?

they pay millions to people who make millions.

Though they do sponser the PGA (club pros) so there are some deals to get, but not as good as my AD.

As I said on another forum, I think it is lame that the GMT 50th commemorative is being done in green like the commemorative Sub. With the Sub, one feels a consistency with its roots in green. That is OK. But for Rolex to take that face color into the GMT for its 50th commemorative is kind of lazy and uncreative in my view. Rolex could have chosen a "rarity" idea, and have been historically consistent with its past and done a really bitchin' white ss GMT Master ll with maxi dial and red date and bring us a new Pan Am. There aren't a lot of white dial options in ss other than the Explorer, so I think Rolex missed a real opportunity to get to its roots and do a cool modern "rarity".

Made on a watchmaker's bench rather than in the Rolex factory though.

That's an Antipodean Felix Giganticus behind it - also rarely seen downunder nowadays due to deforestation
