Patek Phillipe on Ebay is this fake?
I emailed this seller asking if I could pick up the watch in person if I was the winner and he said no. He has good feedback but never selling a watch. Can anyone tell if this is real or fake?

Just for my own learning knowledge does can anyone go into detail on why/how they can tell it is fake?

The case looks awful, and is steel instead of platinum. The dial looks cheap and nasty in all sorts of ways. The movement is dreadful and is supposed to be a tourbillon. The strap is a cheapo leather number and is still better than the watch. Go to the Patek site and have a good look at their signature watches, then take another look. I promise that you'll see it, clear as day. I reported this POS a few days ago but Ebay seems to be happy turning a blind eye.

I know Welshwatchman pretty much said it all and I'm probably the worst watch expert around here but...
- The subdial near the crown has the months on it but there's no hand. - Although the months are on the said sub dial, you can see it's also displayed on the "guichet" near the crown. - There's no sign of a hand on the other sub dial neither. - I could be wrong (please tell me if I am) but I don't think I've ever seen a Patek Philippe watch (or any watch for that matter) showing the year...looks like the other "guichet" shows 2004 in it but I don't think there's any place in that movement to stuck a lot of years...unless that complication will become useless in 2006 I don't see why there would be something like that. - The case looks like it's made of Stainless Steel to me but, as far as I know, Patek Philippe rarely use that material for their watches (except some Nautilus or Aquanaut models). I even heard Thierry Stern in an interview saying they'd rather use precious metals (and, therefore, rarely use SS) to maintain their watches' "high standards". Even if it's possible to find a SS PP I really doubt it would be something like this one. I believe these signs could help you to see it's a fake. If I'm wrong feel free to let me know but that's what I saw. P.S.: if there's a deployment clasp on the band...why does it have the round strap (sorry I don't know the term...english is not my main language) used for bands with a buckle? I believe that clearly shows that if the watch was real...still the band wouldn't be... |

Thank you I knew the watch was a fake but I always love learning about the discrepancies. I have some knowledge with Rolex but know very little about PP.

It's always a pleasure to help! I also think it's great to learn new things about watches so I might as well give some tips when I can.
