No price increase in 2007?
I just got home from my AD and the salesperson said their Rolex sales rep was just in the other day. According to the sales rep there won't be any Rolex price increases in 2007. Hopefully this is accurate info.

I believe that in the next basel rolex is going to upgrade all of it's watches and then we are going to see some big price increases. If colemanitis is right i believe that this can happen

That's great news, if it's true!
That would mean hopefully my Ex-II AND LV could both come at current pricing....can't complain about that!

That would be good, first year in many where there was not a price increase. If this is the case I just might have to add another to the count.

If Rolex is smart, they will leave prices where they are. All of their watches are pretty much priced to the limit, the economy is starting to show a few stress cracks, and I for one am not too eager to see the same watches that have been around for years increased yet again... Larry.

I agree with Puffnmo. I am not too eager for seeing the same watches at a higher price myself. I've seen the same gasoline at a higher price already and don't like having to go through the same with watches. But if the prices are increased this year which I think might still happen, I guess thats something we all have to deal with.

puffnmo you have a point but i think that rolex is not paying to much attention in world economics since they are selling luxury.

My gut feeling is that Rolex's real customer base is composed of people like us, enthusiasts who are in most cases not enormously rich, but love Rolex enough to put a good chunk of our disposable income into collecting them. But there are limits, and most people don't like to feel used or manipulated. I think it's a question of timing. If all of a sudden the Exp. ll goes to $5,700.- Many customers might start looking at other brands for better value... JMO Larry. |

Actually i think that watch industry is oligopoly. I agree with puffnmo that most of it's customers aren't people who are enormosly rich. Most of it's customers are enthusiasts with rolex. Besides that the people who are enormosly rich are usually buying breguet watches or something more exclusive. Rolex watches compared to other watch manufacturers are really cheap. I actually believe that it is the cheapest watch when it comes to luxury but it has the strongest brand. That's where rolex relies on and that's the brand. I believe that rolex watches are going to become really expensive since they started to make their watches more blingy.

Bo - I don't know how it is in Denmark, but here in the U.S. a lot of people are worried about the huge losses being incurred by banks, brokerages and hedge funds on sub-prime real estate loans. It's probably been blown all out of proportion, and will work itself out, but this kind of news day after day doesn't inspire increased luxury spending... Larry.

I follow the news puffnmo. I was talking with an economics professor that i know and he told me that there is a huge worry in the US about the real estate loans and the economy is in danger. I have to admit that europe is facing a big crisis also but it is not economical it is energy crisis since russians own everything and they decide on the prices. If prices go up i believe that rolex will face problems also cause the prices of raw materials will go up. Hence they have to put higher prices and discourage loyal customers and enthusiasts like us from purchasing additional watches. I totally agree with puffnmo

Some might, but I wouldn't. If my watches disappeared and I couldn't replace them with Rolexes, I'd either get used Rolexes or I'd go back to $30 POS watches and scrimp and save until I could get back into a Rolex. I realize that there are other premuim brands out there, some that make a Rolex seem downright cheap in comparison; mebbe so...Rolex is the only watch that has proven to me that it'll last more than a year on my arm. Aside from the durability, Rolex makes a damn good looking watch (with a handful of notable exceptions), they don't go out of style, they don't look dated, they have a lot of good history behind them. Rawhyde PS I hope the no price increase plan holds until I can get a TT Blue Sub! |

Actually rolex has teh same design for so many years and i know many people that hate rolexes because of this. The only difference that rolex has with other watch manufacturers is that rolex watches has a design that nobody can forget and that's why they are watches are so remarkable and easy to remember. Other watch manufacturers change the design every year so that they can fit to trends and it is very difficult to remember their models. At least for me it is difficult to understand how a patek or vacheron looks like.
