Any tips/advice on LED/3D options?

Really don't want to go Too big...

I'm looking at the Sharp 240hz LED 3D that's 52"
I am told that the 55" Samsung in same class has such a thin border that it is actually the same size as the sharp with more screen...

I imagine that I won't watch the 3D that much, but I like having the option...

Any opinions on viewing angles, personal experiences etc...

The new LED Elite TV's are amazing. The smallest size they have is 60" though, and they're a little pricey (around $6k.) They are the best TV's on the market ever since the Pioneer Elite plasmas were taken off the market a few years back. Like all LED/LCD's the panel is really bright, meaning if you have a room with a lot of light it will work well. All LED/LCD suffer a little in terms of viewing angle. If that's a big concern, go with a plasma, which looks great from anywhere. Also, most LED/LCD's only have a maximum of 240hz, which makes Blu-Ray motion look "fake" to some people, including myself. Plasma's, by comparison, process images at 600hz, so you get the most cinema-like picture possible. Plus there's no motion blur whatsoever. The new LED Elites have tech in them that boost processing to over 700hz. If PQ is the most important thing to you, spend the money and the new Elite you'll be happy.

Whatever this 3D technology is at the moment, it is an interim measure and fraught with quite a few reported problems causing headaches etc.And with the complete rubbish on TV well in the UK it is 2D is plenty enough for me. I don't think I would invest in it at the moment, it would be obsolete before you get it out of the box.

I'm going to wait until you no longer need special glasses to view 3D TV.
