Interesting 5513 craigslist. Any input?

Was just cruising craigs and came across this 5513. It's not everyday that you find quality (seemingly) vintage pieces on craigslist, found it kinda intriguing. Sounds like its a relume, and pics aren't the best, but what do you guys think of it? He doesn't have a price up but sounds like he's some sort of collector. May look into it..

Any good experiences finding vintage on craigs?

Looks a bit dodgy to me, The crown and crown guards, the rehaut, non-period bracelet... I'm sure some of the experts will chime in and shoot me down but personally I would pass, and certainly wouldn't part with any cash based on the images shown.

good luck with your search

Apart from his strange need to capitalize virtually every word (he is from upstate New York though ;-) ), this concerns me: "Markers still have a strong glow as well as the Hands"

I know some rhodium dials still glow, and MAYBE some tritium when exposed to strong light sources, but I don't think this tritium dial/hands should be glowing "strongly" (if at all) anymore if original.

If you can meet him in person to inspect it, do so, but be careful with the meetup - bring a buddy or protection. The price is good though if OK.

Personally, I'd stay away from craigslist for vintage watches.

This is near me and i have personally handled this watch. DO NOT BUY it. Its a sketchy pawn shop and i have heard nothing but bad things. He takes a lot of watches in. Replaces parts with "aftermarket" and sells original dials bezels bracelets on ebay. PM if your still thinking about it.

Haha, fair enough. I know folks from both regions that refer to anything up there as "upstate."

Whoa, good to know! Definitely won't be considering this piece considering the responses this thread has been getting.

Thanks for the input guys!
