One thing people often forget is that Apple is hardware company and they're the best in the business at building quality hardware. A very small portion of their revenue comes from direct software sales. The software does however sell the hardware. If you want the best hardware to run Windows on, Apple is still the best. Not saying that it's not blasphemy, but it's the best hardware option.

I own the 11'' Macbook Air for one year now and I simply loooooove it!

It has travelled with me all over the world and I never felt the need for another tool on my trips. I's the first generation without the lit keyboard but imo the keys are nicer on the old one.

And since the gesture control has taken place some yrs ago (on the Macbook Pros), I never used a mouse on my portable computer.

Converted to Mac back in '09 and no looking back...

Still running my 13" MBP from '09 (2.53ghz core 2, 4gb ram, 250gb hdd) and loving every second of it. I too wish I had made the switch earlier. This rig runs just as fast and reliably over 2 years later, just as it did the day I unpacked it from the factory.

At work we use pc's with windows vista and 7 and they are trash... I can honestly count on one hand how many times I've had to do a hard reset on my MBP... on my old windows machines it was basically a daily occurrence...

So basically... yeah I agree OSX/Apple computers rock

Oh, an old thread.
Here is an update from me.

I have since then bought a 13" MBP instead of a 11" MBA. For whatever reason I felt it would give me more flexibility.
The wife uses 15" MBP now, and I always grab the 13" whether I am at home or not

I went from a 15" MacBook Pro that was getting older and I found myself worrying that the hard drive might be getting ready to die.

I opted for a 13" MacBook Air this time and I'm pleased to death with it.

One big consideration if you do a lot of photo shooting with SD cards is that the 13" Air has a built-in slot while the 11" doesn't. It's a terrific convenience.

I like both MBA's and the 13" MBP. The 15 and 17 are just too big for anything but desktop replacement duty.

I just got a new Macbook pro for my daughter. Her camera is a Sony Tx-1o and its videos can't be read on the macbook pro. Something about I have to convert the .mts file to a mp4 format. Any recommendations on a program to use?

I read about Handbrake, but it seems to have lots of problems. Appreciate any advice.

You might try VLC. That is a free third party software video viewer.

No, but I put the latest ubuntu release on my old ACER laptop, added a little ram and faster drive...This thing is faster than any apple product I've tried.

The only down side is that when things go wrong (device driver, etc) you end up taking advice from a 14 year old kid in Finland, sometimes it works, sometimes not...But it's all free software running on a 500 dollar laptop...

@gqllc - that's funny.

I know there are people that enjoy their 15.4 and 17" laptops, but anything larger than 13.3 and I feel like I'm carrying around a briefcase. I had a 15.4 MBP for about a week until I realized how much BIGGER it felt than my Air, and back to Apple it went.
