Good story. An old-timer who works at the jewelry shop where I take my watches wears a Tudor Sub he got while in the Navy many moons ago. I believe he said he paid $99 for it.

I can't wait for the day when a Sub costs $30,000 and I can look at some young whipper snapper and say "I only paid $8000 for this back in 2011" LMAO

Wish I had those types of run-ins.

SS Sub $150.00 at the BX at Pleiku AFB, Republic of South Vietnam, 1970. Didn't have enough cash, bought a Seiko instead.

I like hearing stories like this, I always try to make polite comments on other people's watches.

haha, looks like you guys have 335i's!
I've noticed and chatted up a few of the guys at the BMW dealerships (I'm usually in and out quickly) and where I get my cars modded. The owner of the shop I have my modifications done at is a huge Rolex fan and he's the one that's shamed me into buying a new watch, lol. I have a BMW M5 and a GT-R and a couple other cars, but I'm still wearing my 10-year old Omega Seamaster Pro (Bond) that I bought in London when I was a college student: |

I toured the U.S.S. Midway earlier this year and there was a sign in the ship's commissary (from 1945?) that listed a Rolex for $150. My oldest boy then proceeded to ask me what I paid for mine..... Wonder how many soldiers ponied up $150 for a Rolex in 1945....
