Actually, at least in Great Britain (where you have a great tradition of hallmarks), attaching/rolling/fusing (whatever you want to call it) gold to another piece of metal would VOID the "gold" designation. Instead such a combination is called "Mixed metal".
For the same reason you have the 18 kt / 750 hallmark on BOTH the underside of the case AND on the clasp of a DAY-DATE in SOLID gold (i.e. not gold fused to another metal). And therefore you do NOT have any hall marks on the TT Sub. Since hallmark rules do not allow this. I am not saying it is NOT 18 kt. gold on the TT Sub. I am saying that "gold" is just not the right designation as soon as it's is fused to another metal: It is "mixed metal"

But funnily enough, it is that SILVER DIAL that really makes the difference - for me. Had the DD had the classic "Champagne" dial (or "gold coloured" or whatever you wish to call it), IMHO it would looks a bit dull (too homogene). It is this CONTRAST of the silver dial (with applied gold dial figures) + the rest of the gold watch itself that really makes it attractive - to me
