Is this rolex real?
My friend is selling this rolex submariner but he said he doesn't have the box or papers so that makes me think it's fake. What do you guys think?

First of all, why does my post seem fishy? I'm not some Chinese guy who is posting fakes. All I'm trying to do it get an opinion if the watch is real or not and I got my answer....
He is asking 1,500 and says the reason he is selling it so low is because it needed a new crystal, bezel and a few other things because he claims it was crushed but is in perfect working order now. It's funny because every time I wanted him to meet me at thom duma the local rolex dealer to have a pro look at the watch, he would always have an excuse. Thanks for the help, you guys saved me 1500 bucks!. He pretty much had me convinced it was real. I am looking for my first rolex and would like a submariner. What do you guys think about buying a preowned watches on ebay? I've been looking for a nice submariner in good condition, but don't want to spend more than 5,000. Any advice on where to get a fair price on a used sub? I just don't want to get ripped off. |

Considering Rolex is sending the majority of their inventory to China these days... Sure. Explain why Chinese people are more suspect to post fakes here... What? Because fakes are manufactured there? So is everything else in the world. Ignorance...

Understand you will get a lot of doubters here because we are used to people trying to see if their fakes will pass, or trying to learn how to make a better fake. Some might suspect you of this, and frankly if they're right we'll probably never know. However I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt. I would strongly advise you to look for a used Sub in the For Sale section of these forums. There are a lot of reputable dealers here and you can check them out in the Who's Who section. Personally I would avoid eBay. Although there are a lot of reputable dealers there too, you increase your chances of getting a fake, or nothing at all - a lot of scammers on eBay. |
