Flagrant foul no-calls Highland @ Connell 12/22/11

This video is getting quite a lot of attention on the the sport news. what do you guys think?

I am not much of a basketball person, but IMHO, that kid belongs on the football field more than on the court.

I'm sure mine won't be a popular reply but I don't find any of this outrageous. I agree that flagrant fouls should have been called for #s 4, 5 and 6 but 1-3 were simply hard fouls. #34 is obviously a kid who doesn't know the game of basketball but I find it hard to agree with the folks who are calling for him to be banned or calling him "the dirtiest player in the US"; hardly. He needs to be taught proper defense and rebounding skills. He is clearly bigger and stronger than his opponents and those are his only assets on defense. I'd be willing to bet that he doesn't touch the ball much on offense.

This is poor coaching more than it is a kid looking to hurt anyone. I don't believe his "out for blood". That said, the coach shouldn't be playing him until he can exhibit the necessary skills to play a clean game where his lack of ability does not endanger other players. Also, the referees need a refresher course on what a flagrant foul is. They clearly missed a few.

Just my .02.

Basketball has deteriorated into street ball from the pros all the way down, evidently, to high school.

Clothes-lining and slamming to the court a player going in for a layup is pretty egregious.
