My questionable Daytona arrived yesterday
Well guys, I bought what I believed to be and I still don't know isn't a wounded/damaged Daytona 16520? Story is the watch was in police possion for awhile due to assult and failed robbery.
The insurance company took the watch after the courts conviced the guys. They wrote this guy a check for home damage and the watch due to this happened in his home. ( watch was tossed out a upper level apartment balcony window hit the street and was damanged <-- long story short) The insurance company called him up and offered him the watch back as salvage cost of $850.00 so, he bought it back. He then says he brought it to a AD who had service techs on hand and they inspected it, told him it would be close to 4k to repair to Rolex spec's he took the watch back and said thank you. (I've not been able to get the back off but, I can tell you what ever the movement is it's trashed) Took it home and threw it into a drawer and forgot about it. His son is wanting to buy a car and needed items to sell asked dad what he would give up and hence the watch went on ebay. (I called and spoke to the dad and he told me the above story per say) Today I'm going to take the watch to my watch repair guy who also has handled my other Rolex's to see what he say's. Guys I'm so up in the air about this watch being real I'm cross eyed I have checked the web for all the known normal replica's and dial wise it's a Rolex. I looked between the lugs and I don't see any serial numbers or model number. (this scares me) The band is a Daytona style band but, I don't have a warm and fuzzy on the 78628 stamped on the band near the end links. I'll get you a follow-up on this as I find out more |

Time for some "service"
Earl,
I usually don't announce this, but I feel the time has come to let the cat out of the bag. When I was a youngster, I went into the service of our Uncle. He found that I had a certain aptitude for some things. As luck would have it, after years of training and action, I am no longer able to work for Uncle Lucky. But on rare occasions I offer these services to friends at a reduced rate. If you feel the need arises I'll fly down and pay him a terminal visit. I hope all turns out well for you! Gun |

Thanks for all your replys, damn I wish we had someone who live's close to Pheonix, AZ.
Well, I took the watch down to Fredricksburg, VA, to travel 30 miles it took me 2 hours due to the holiday traffic. Once there and inside the AD of Crown Jewery I handed the package over the Mr Sale who inspected the watch and then took it into the back. When he returned he stated, I'm sorry this is not a Rolex watch fonts on dial are light although good and there are no serial nor model numbers stamped between the lugs. I asked would he be able to give me a estimate on what it would cost to bring it back to Rolex standards (I know at this point it's not real) he said to buy a Rolex Daytona! So, I'm not the great reader of people I thought I was and buy the buyer did not work this time as I bought him "Hook, Line, and Sinker". Now it's figure out how to resolve this issue. By the way guys, it's only money and there are more important things in life then to stress myself over being taken for a ride on a Rolex but, this issue is not over yet. Happy 4th of July everyone and thanks to all our global members for their good wishes to us on this day! YeeeeHa Lets Party! |

Thanks all for your support In what talking I've done with this guy I'm the bad guy, he says I switch his Rolex for a POS and I now am going to try and scam him out or the money I paid him.
I've so far, taken the watch to 2 watch repair guys, 1 who did the work on my vintage he told me stright up it was fake, the other was an AD who looked at it Saturday and said the same thing but, would not give me in writting that it was fake. Told me to send to Rolex service Center and he was sure they would give paper. Anyway, this guy does not want to return my money since it is now in his pocket and I have possession of the POS fake. So, since I do have it I'm going to contact the Attorney General in Phoenix and ask them what I can do about this Fraud which occured in their city and used UPS mail to carry it out. Which btw, is a White collar crime known as Mail Fraud. Since he don't want to give me back my money and cut his scam losses, well I'll see what I can do about it. Anyone with any better idea's? btw Adrian I had a few of them over the past 4 days Hic! |

Earl,
If you bought the watch on Ebay did you use PayPal funded with your credit card? If you did you maybe able to do a "chargeback", PayPal usually sides with the buyer in almost all cases. Good Luck! |

It was listed on ebay but, he pulled it as I sent a chashiers check befor the auction was over. Howerver, I did file a report with the link ebay offers with the internet fraud will just have to wait and see.. will post some pictures later today of the fake. The first is his picture of the fake.. the rest are ones I took.
