I'm pretty sure that watch was posted here. New guy asked if it was a f**e, then the thread was summarily deleted. I wonder if he was banned from here and if he is the one who has this one on eBay.

I believe that you are referring to me. No, I was not the listing person on eBay. I came across it as I was looking, and genuinely did not know. I thought that this was a good place to ask and originally posted it in the main area and I was told it should be here, and resulted in my having two of basically the same post. I think this was why it was deleted, my lack of knowing how the site works.

my eBay id is the same as here (or anywhere else). rjmarti
I am not a wealthy man, but bought my first Rolex a blue dialed Date-Just about 20 years ago. As my kids have aged and I dont need to pay child support I am in a position that I sprung for a two-toned Sub about 6 months ago, and did buy it off eBay and the first thing I did was take it to a jeweler. Since then Ive purchased two more. I dont mind buying a project watch, cleaning it up, etc. Im quite happy to do that. I just thought that before I bid several thousand dollars on another watch, that was not listed by a Jewelry store/estate seller, I would ask people that I thought were more knowledgeable than myself. I have no experience in Daytona's.

Ron...

...FIRST and foremost, buy the SELLER.

...THEN, consider a watch.

...any listing that appears on eBay like the one you have posted has to be considered suspect-STAY AWAY.

...there are plenty of REPUTABLE sellers right here on TRF and on eBay.

...just be CAREFUL and post them up here in watchout to be scrutinized etc PRIOR to a purchase.

I try to do that Stan. The other watches Ive bought have come from dealers. I got a really really nice Oyster Date 1503 in solid 14k with the original matching band in the most disgustingly dirty condition and delighted in cleaning it up so that it looks brand new It was a true diamond in the rough), and am awaiting a old trench watch now.

I guess I allowed my zeal at finding a 'bargain' to overcome my common sense. It seems that a lot of these listings often have a common theme of poor grammar, bad pictures, seller with 0 or <10 feedback etc. I should know better.

Doubled up with the posting of this thread (sorry) but since the posting the blurb has been corrected. We now have reasonable english which makes me suspect that a lot of e-bay posters cheeck this forums watch out section. And the bad english is a blind.

A quick search on the email address gives the name of Aaron Lewis C.H.E. 19 years old. What the C.H.E. stands for is anyones guess
